Why wasn't the US release of the RS6 Navigation system the same as the Euro release? I've been looking through the RS6's currently for sale both in the US and Europe and notice a difference in the console system for the navigation. US uses the small screen in the gauge cluster (not entirely sure how it works:vhmmm: ), while the Euro 'appears' to have a console screen.

The other thing I have noticed that stands out is the difference in seat design. The Euro seat is cleaner and sportier than the US release from what I can tell.

Anyway, just a couple of things I've wondered about. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

the US nav system is the old school turn by turn nav system. However, I don't believe the rns-e was offered as an option on the RS6 in Europe either, everybody just installs one from the A6 or Allroad.

Yes, you are correct, the recaro seats were also not offered in the US, which IMO totally blows.

actually that was a one of main reasones to go for that car, i love the seats soo much,, but it is really very wierd to not provide them at US!!!!!

I think it had something to do with the recaros not being DOT compliant.

i have stock navi plus with screan in console... and nice seats.. :-)

so, they come as stock in europe..

I saw some RS6s here in gulf coming with navi plus as a stock , but seems first owner of my car didn't order it :(,, now I'm trying to find units on ebay but a lot of units and I'm afraid to order the wrong one and dunno if it will work perfect or not. I can see key called "telephone" in that units but i'm not sure if it will works or need additional retro fit kit also other than that unit.

DOT = Department of Transportation. I do believe that was the reason Audi didn't bring the recaros to the US spec RS6 because they would have had to spent a lot of money conducting test trials.

as for the sat nav, you need to look for "RNS-E" for A6/Allroad. Check out http://www.navplus.us for more information

let me get some pictures...

I am considering to upgrade to MMI wich is realy hard to find (in A6 size) but i have one friend in POLAND that may find it...

I thought MMI doesn't fit our model year cars and we could only use RNS-E?

with minor adaptation it fits.. there are adapter cables and some software coding is needed using ros-tech... since all RS series is equiped with BOSE system... i ahve TV tuner also...

I'd offer to take it off your hands but I don't think the US map DVD will work with the RNS-E. Do you have video in motion lock removed?

i can make you one...

Motion unlock is realy simple .. all you need to do is to cut GALA signal wire... (connect via switch) since you need gala signal for navigation to operate normaly in situations when there is no satelite reception NAVI plus uses gala impulses to maintain car speed...


JUST reminder...

STOCK unit uses CD not DVD for navigation and i have map for navigation(CD) for italy :-)

hehe, nene, I am in the process of hunting down a good priced RNS-E unit and will definitely get it installed. However, the big problem with the recaros is that it's simply not possible to find the damned seats! I've heard a rumour that Audi in Mexico can order the seats but how to transport them back in the country is the problem....

There are those who said they bought them off ebay.de but I understand that there are issues involved too b/c airbags are considered explosive devices.

Duck,

I installed the Recaros in my RS-6 about a year ago, got them from Stephan in Germany, who occasionally has them for sale on this board. He is very reputable, and will arrange to get them to you with a minimum amount of hassle. Did have to work with the customs people a little bit, but no big deal. I have also done the RNS-E upgrade, and I am extremely happy with both improvements to the beast. I highly recommend both!!

I think his name is Stephan Mueller, but I could be wrong about that. Many others on this board know him and have done business with him. He is very reputable. Nene knows him. as do others.

Hii Ramin, I'm in UAE too, and I'm searching for good Laser shiffter or jammer, I'm researching on this and will try to find a good one, but also the problem is that will be hard to pass it through the borders as its banned here. So where r u in UAE? and what do u have?? RS6??

they used fixed radar somtime portable but its looks 2 types but i dont know any things more about them,if i take pic from them can you find out?
