MTM Berlin,

When I was over in MTM next to Ingoldstadt plant, they confirmed to me that they would never commercialize the compressor kit for the RS4 V8, because and I quote the phrase from Stefan Linke "High rev engine is not compatible with a compressor kit".

He basically explaigned to me that the main difference with the S4 V8 (apart from the FSI), is that the internal parts are deisnged very differently and on the RS4 V8, the parts have to be lmuch lighter to be able to go to 8500rpm, which also means that the parts are weaker and will not support tha higher compression with time. no issues for the S4 V8 engine (hence now the S5 V8 engine too of course).

The question of the day, is why did MTM do this on the R8 engine which is the same as in RS4 V8, and why did the RS4 kompressor car still showed up at the Tuner Grand Prix 2008 if it will never be commercialized.... it does not make sense... it only makes envy to people that it is doable, but in practice its not ....

Of course Mr. Linke is right with what he is saying... To me it seems they still want to test the kit on the long run. As you already stated the RS4 compressor works well since the beginning.

Well the kompressor kit for the RS4 V8 is available on the market. I think it is a good thing MTM took the time to developp it properly. Yes it was not an easy challenge but they made it. I drove the car during 2 weeks. It is a monster ! ! !

Engine from RS4 and Engine from R8 are not the same. Definitely not the same !

MTM is designing the kit on the R8 to sale it ! ! But they will take the time to develop it and to make it reliable. If it takes 3 months, it will takes 3 months. If it takes 6 months, it will take 6 months.
