I actualy don't like the looks, but awesome respect for the performance!

I agree with Andy, I can't seem to like the design no matter how hard I try. I love the performance but I can not ever see myself wanting to own one.

Maybe things will be different when I see one in person.

Dont like the looks one bit. However, it's breaking the rules of the game. Whether we like it or not, it's destroying supercars costing 4 times as much.

I like the looks of it, not much but i like it.

Edit: The thing I don't quite like about it is he front...I bvelieve it should be more of an evolution of the R34, but overall I like the car, I guess performance won me over.

I think the 4WD of the GT-R is state of the art, and Audi could learn something from it how to make a better Quattro system.
With this set-up it would be no problem to use a V10, because the engine is not hanging completely over the front axle.

Finally got to drive one (virtually :D). Before the laughs start, GT has always stood for excellence when it came to virtual duplication of driving dynamics and feedback, especially when combined with the DFP wheel.

Got to do back to back runs vs the R8 on mutiple tracks. The GTR is everything the R8 is in the handling department (traction control on or off) but destroys it on acceleration. The R8 drives absolutely beautifully, but lacks the grunt the GT-R brings to the table.

For me, The R8 is the looker, but would be so much more with the GT-R's power (the R8 should have come with the RS 6s motor). The V10 should solve this, as long as it can stay lighter than the current GT-R. Of course, the GT-R by then will be coming out with the V-Spec, and then, once again, will trump it on speed and power.

So as beautiful as the R8 is, I'll take the GT-R and pocket the $50K+ price difference. Not to mention I can take my two small kids with the wife and I on a drive in the GT-R, something you can't do in the R8.

For those that have a PS3, GT5 Prologe is worth it.

Thanks for the 'virtual' review Ben! ;)

The GTR, at the moment, is the definitive practical sportscar. It would be interesting to see how the other performance car manufacturers respond to it with their own products in the coming months.

The GTR, at the moment, is the definitive practical sportscar. I agree wholeheartedly with that statement. In the USA, it comes standard with dual clutch tranny and DVD Navigation and premium sound package. Tack those options onto the R8 and you end up with a car that costs $125K+ USD whereas the Nissan costs $70K...

I freely admit the R8 looks better (in a classier way), but the GT-R would be the one I'd want. It looks great in it's own "in your face" sort of way.

The GT-R is "ONLY" availeble with dual clutch tranny. no manual.

I realize that Jarod, and that was sort of my point. A dual clutch tranny is standard, no manual even offered. Same with no GT-Rs are even offered without DVD Navi and Premium sound. The car only comes with those "options".

My point was that those features (not sure of Nav and sound in other countries) are already built into the incredibly low price of $70K USD, and are options for other high end sports cars.

Jarod,

You are making a big thing about the awd of the GTR improving engine position and thus weight balance, am I not correct in think it's weight balance is 54.5/45.5, that's only slightly better than the A4 3.2 Quattro which doesn't have a transaxle gearbox at the rear.

Though I agree the AWD system is a work of art.

I don't like the looks; but I'm sure it handles great with a suspension you'd want to take on a race track.

I think he may be right on this.. I also thought it was close to 55/45. But I'd love to be wrong on this one.
