117000 miles, that is some 188000 kms... :vhmmm:

That is plenty of kms, I don't know..., if the price is VERY low, maybe you schould go, but with second hand car you never know. It can brake down the moment you go home with it or it can serve you flawless for another 50000 kms...

Is there option for you to take that car to some autorised Audi service to run some checks and let them say ''what's up'' with car...?

im not sure but i would obviousley get the car cheked over by an adui specialist or even audi themselves to emake sure i wasnt buying a crap car, but the price is extremely low possibly too good to be true

I don't know whats' the problem than... If the price is that low, and you was anyhow preparing to take it to Audi..., than take it, check it and if everything is OK, buy it! It will be fantastic car to own, B5 RS 4 is MARVELOUS !!!

Did you allready saw it, or you are just found the add?

ive only seen the add but, im going to go down next week hopefully and see the car, ive driven a b5 rs4 with 63 thousand miles and it felt fine and solid but wot 117 feels like, also the car will need to get a service soon :( depending on the last service, says it has 11 stamps form audi but will probs need a service at 120 thosunad miles.

I would be wary....

If you can have a tech perform a compression test, do it...

Mine now has 105k miles on it :-( But i've had it since around 70k when i bought it. Be prepared for some big bills though - these cars will keep going but then they need a fair bit of looking after to ensure they do... i'd budget around £1000 a year just in servicing for around 10000 miles a year as chances are you will have some oil leaks and i'd ensure it goes to a specalist every 5k miles for an oil change. THe more the garage sees it the more likely they are to spot something that could cause a MASSIVE bill in the future!

Other than that i'd have no issues providing it had a full service history.

Bear in mind it will need a cam belt service at 120kmiles... thats not a cheap one either!

i thought the cambelts were changed at 80k miles, would it not last a bit longer. to put things in perpective the cars 10 thousand pounds !

and im defiently goign to get an audi tech to go through the car, dont want to pick the ca up ata abargain price and realsie it needs a lot of work done

Delaying a cambelt change is likely to result in a VERY big bill... they MUST be changed at the specified intervals (unless you want pistons to meet valves and cause a huge amount of internal damage to the engine).

Mileage says nothing about the vehicle. How it was driven, that is important. Do you know the previous owner, or are you buying it at a garage? Are they offering any warranty or similar?

I can't agree more with you !

Some cars are destroyed in a few thousands miles. Others are pampered during hundreds of thousand miles...

I have seen at MTM an Audi 100 S4 with 420 hp MTM kit with well over 250 000 kms. The car was still a monster !

An Audi RS4 with 520hp MTM kit has been sold recently. If I remember properly, the car was over 160 000 kms. I know from MTM the first owner was extremely carefull with his car...

My RS6 is at 180.000km now. I'd still take upon any porsche besides the 997 turbo or the carrera GT :jlol:

Is this one that has been on Pistonheads? IIRC for about £14-15K? Has B7 RS4 buckets as well. I don't think it's amazing value, but not too bad. The pictures of the car aren't great tbh and i'd ask for a few more detailed pics and info before proceeding.

Agree with PetrolDave though, do not skimp on the cambelt or any other cost for that matter. Common mistake with high performance/exotic cars, people trying to penny pinch. I'd get the cam belt done just for peace of mind mate, don't want to be driving it with the nagging feeling that it could go. Spend now, to avoid BIG bills later.

Cambelts on the RS4s are every 40000 miles - not every 80000miles...

Hope that helps - Therefore i would have expected the change to be due at 120k miles as it's a multiple of 40k.
