Supercar + 1900kg does not fit together (Save for the Veyron but then again the Veyron is pushing a 16cl quad turbo 1000+ hp engine). Hope this is never made.

I said a production version will weight closer to 1750~1800Kgs. The weight being quoted is for this concept. That was what I was told.

You don't mean the recently announed 7 speed S-Tronic, as this one would desintegrate :hihi: by the torque of the diesel (max. torque capacity: 550 Nm)...

1900kg?!...is simply too damn much. I hope they can get it down to about 1700kg
( a bit TOO optimistic right?).

Cheers all,

Javier

I am not sure if everyone here has heard of the e-magazine "Winding Road", but they have an excellent feature on the R8 V12 TDI including a video. It is a must read. Anyway, the author states that the V12 TDI R8 is a personal project of Dr. Piech so all the rumors of the V12 being only a "show car" are incorrect. The car is expected to hit production in mid-2009 with the V12 TDI power plant and not the rumored V8 TDI or V10 TDI as discussed here. Piech won't have any of that! The question is how many are they going to build. The article states that Audi is looking at either 500 units at a price tag of 500,000 USD or 3000 units at a price tage of 200,000 USD. I assume the latter will be the case.

We will have to wait and see if the article is correct. Only time will tell. I think Audi is being coy about many of its production model plans right now.

Dr. Piech is huge diesel fan, his original plan was to see VW or any other VAG brand with diesel engine participating in F1...
