Have just bought a Sept 07 RS4,:rs4kiss: I (hope) it will be a long way off before I have to replace them, but would be interested in other owners who have replaced their tyres, compared to factory fit. Your opinions please.

PS2s are the best all around... Conti 3s aren't bad either

I have 275/30/19 Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R on the stock 19" wheels. They are so much grippier than any of the tires the RS4 came with stock. Plus they lower the car around 1cm also as the diameter is just a little off from stock but not enough to cause it to read wrong by much at all.

My RS4 had Pirelli PZero Rossos as OE fit, but they lasted only 9,000 miles

Currently I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport 2s and after 11,000 miles they still have several thousand miles life left, but they did cost nearly £1000 for 4.

Next time I'm thinking of fitting Goodyear F1 Assymetics in 275/30 x 19 which are getting good reports from owners, and only cost £600 for 4!

I had 3 sets of Pirellis and will stick with them... I do not like the feeling I get with the michelines (shoulder behavior)... but that is really personal! To me Conti aro not worth mentioning ... they are by far the worst...

Change them when the one with the least amount of tread left has 2mm.

I would suggest you get the Goodyear F1 Assymetric in 275/30 x 19 - but make sure you get the XL rating, that is essential with the RS4.

That's what I'm fitting next ...

See my earlier post (4 posts above my last one....) £600 vs £1000 for a set of 4 according to a guy on www.rs246.com

People who have them are saying that they wear better than the Pirellis (which cost about £900 for four) - which makes them much better cost per mile than them!

And even if you only get 2/3 the distance from them compared to the Michelins they will work out the same cost per mile.

Got to be worth a try...

Not sure I'd agree with that.

I had P Zeros as OE fit and changed to PS2s at 9000 miles (when the P Zeros had reached legal minimum tread depth).

IMHO the PS2s don't feel like they have as much grip - with the PS2s I can do a 4 wheel drift around the roundabout in front of work but with the P Zeros I could never get it to break grip there, plus with the PS2s the car feels "edgier" (some would say more alive). The PS2s are also generate slightly more road noise.

Having said that the longer life from the PS2s would still make me choose them over the P Zeros every time.

I have run to two different summer tyres - P Zero (ed 2006) and Conti 3 (ed 2007). Both have been pretty okay, but - contrary to many others over here - I actually marginally prefer the Contis - slightly better feel and less wear. My next tyres will probably be the new revised P Zeros, though, as I have heard great things about them.
