Did anyone have a chance to attend/see Randy Pobst take 3rd at Road Atlanta last week (June 28th) in the Champion RS6 Competition?
Pretty exciting as Pobst is 1st overall in points for the Series by 12 points having podium finishes in the last 5 races.
I noticed some significant changes in the RS6 since they last ran a month ago. 1) the hood has been vented to help dissipate heat from directly over the engine compartment. 2) the lower front air spoiler has been completely changed and no longer has the 2 holes in the center at the bottom. Appears to me that these were holes for getting air to the front brakes and they now appear to be at the outer edges of the headlight assemblies. 3) It looks like they took off the OEM front calipers and put a different type of Brembo caliper and rotor assembly on the car.
These are the changes that are readily visible from the photos. Who knows what other changes were made that we cannot see.
Does anyone have any other info or comments about car setup/changes?
Michael Galati switched back to the S4 for this race as his RS6 was still undergoing repairs. The S4 broke a rear axle shaft very early in the race. Apparently partly as a result of the additional stress put on the axle by the bigger tires. Galati has been having lots of bad luck this season. Let's hope his luck will change for the better soon.
BTW- This Road Atlanta race will be televised on July 19 on Speed Channel.
Cheers to all us RS6 addicts & the Champion RS6 Racing team on another job well done! :addict:
