Look at this thing!!
i saw it years ago and just thought it would be nice to post.
Its Audis 1991 concept, V12 with 509 hp.
0-60 about 3 second!!!
ANd top speed of 211 mph!!!

People who worked on this project never really 'recovered' from the fact the car was never built ! Because of Porsche.
Actually a inside regarding this car is that all the engineering done in secret for the Sport Quattro S2 was reused for the Avus. It is because the Sport Quattro S2 was the first car at Audi with a rear central engine:

The Avus had a W12 engine, but not the same architecture as the current W8, W12 and W16 engines.

I was really young when that concept came out between 9 and 11 but i still remember going to the AutoRAI (auto show in amsterdam RAI) that year or 1-2 years after that desperatly wanting to see it. But it wasn't there.
Think the designer of the Veyron gave the headlights of the Avus a good look.

Yeah the roof intake. Saw it mentioned in an article they took that from the Avus.

I think that this was the R8 from the past.
It sure looks like it :cool2:
Somehow it does remind me of the Isdera Commendatore 112i which also dates back to the early '90s
