Looks like the R&T one wasn't ran in yet.

the single most important factor in its performance numbers is the transmisision. just like the 997 turbo tiptronic. both of these cars depend upon the time saved by the auto shifters, the gt-r in particular reaps an especially big benefit from the twin clutches- no loss of power or torque. it really is too bad the R8 doesn't have one and, conversely, that the GT-R doesn't have a an honest to God manual. then we could really compare.

i'd say that the DSG saves the GTR about .4 seconds in its 0-60 time. i also agree that it probably makes about 520 hp. i wonder how tunable and overengineered that engine is, compared to say the B5 S4, for example. i'd say it is probably maximally tuned and i am not sure you can run that much more boost. any guesses?

Wondering the same thing here. But I would say it's nowhere near as tuneable as the RB36DETT engine, although I could be wrong, very wrong.
