326hp is just simply not anough for this car.

IMO best case scenario would be a newly developped V10 TDI of aluminum, developing around 500hp and a s**tload of torque.. That would be great.

If the V12TDi doesn't make it into the R8 I reckon it will be a shame, Audi needs a car like this to show case it's engineering skills. Especially in the light of it's recent successes in motor sport with diesel technology.

Again if they have chose to shelf the V12 in favour of the 4.2v8TDi I would be surprise to find that it's tune would be that of the rest of the Audi range. Both it's current performance figure would be too small in my opinion to offer a credible alternative to a petrol version, especially after the appetite wetting of the full fat V12 version.

It will easily have 400 plus. If Audi can do a 300 hp V6 TDI, they can do a 400+ V8 TDI. I would think it would replace the gas V8 and just have a V8 TDI and a V10 FSI.

If the R8 gets a 4.2 diesel with a mere 350hp...it will be an instant fail.
Ok. It will not get the V12 as much as we wanted to, how about a V10TT? any chance of that happening??

Ah, just put the Le Mans engine in it. It'll be right. Old 3.6TT V8 petrol and new 5.9 V12 TDi engine options.

I really hope Audi will discard this diesel engine as an option from the R8 lineup.

Unless they get it out with a cheap price ... maybe less than 80k, nobody will buy this car.

I was speaking to a guy last night that happens to have paid a £10K deposit with his dealer for a R8v12TDi.

His has been informed that the the car will be launched in 18 months. This is going against the recent info that the car has been cancelled, now doesn't it. :brag:

mebbe audi is working on a way to TT the V10 so it doesn't melt- via a new rear hatch design and the overhead intake- qand this will be the ultimate flagship- in 2012.

though at this point i am sure porsche is squeezing audi's left nut.
