See for yourself...but I kinda expected it.

It's surreal how fast the GTR is with all that weight, now I'm seriously wondering if their traction sistem and dsg grearbox are much better that Audi's.

Pay attention in part 2 when he floors it from the begining...if that's not the god of thunder...I dunno what it is.

Cheers all,

Javier

Supposedly the engine makes more than 480 horsepower. It would be interesting to see how well the R8 would have compared.

new GTRīs have been dynoed with 520rwhp. so the 480hp is wrong like nissan stated ! ! !

It would be no shame to say that the traction and dsg was better than the current versions that Audi are using, lets face it they are at least 3+ years old now. Best to judge the new 7sp DSG and the Quattro3 before making a final decision.

If nothing else proves the benefit of AWD then surely this video does. The GTR was the only one which did exactly as it said on the tin, matching the claimed times, something neither the M3 or GT3 was capable of doing.

So true Leadfoot, I look forward to see a proper comparison fo the AWD and DSG, either way props to Nissan for making such a good car...Baby Veyron? dunno about that one...but it surely is a matter for discussion.

Cheers:cheers:

Nah, that was 457awhp, with a highly conservative flywheel conversion giving 520hp, when it's more like 570-580hp, but that was on BP 102 RON fuel.

In others tests, a stock GTR has made ~480hp@hubs. We're looking at about 550hp@flywheel and a bit more with better fuel.:burnout:

"Massive wheel spin in 2nd gear and 0-60 5.2s in M3 E92:harass: I like the GTR very good car! But who said that M3 E92 can beat an RS4 B7?:lovl:

Just to correct you, the Porsche and the M3 both didn't perform as well as expected in this acceleration test for reasons that were clear for the M3 which you had stated but less clear for the GT3 which seem to get a good clean start with little wheel spin.

It's not easy to do a perfect start with a rwd car that has over 400hp and if you get it wrong then chances are you muck things up BIG TIME as Chris proved. The M6Board.com video with the M3 vs RS4 on a standing start showed a similar thing happening, the M3 got excessive wheel spin going into second and took it to over 135mph to get back on terms with the Audi. If that had been at a set of traffic lights the M3 would have lost spectacularly.

It's probably the main reason why they choose a rolling start and has a bloody long airfield to guarantee victory.

To me that test is little bit a joke. Have to admit that GTR is easy and fast. But driving lap time with PSM on etc...

Am I hearing right, did you say that he did the lap in the GTR with PSM on. Surely that would be it's slowest possible outcome, I did hear him saying something about the M3 not using DSC because it would have been a disastrous lap time with it on.

The argument here is, does either the M3 or RS4 warrant the same money for far less performance because of their brand image over Nissan. I will be sticking with what I know best but wouldn't blame anyone choosing to jump ship because the GTR is incredible value for money.

I meant Porsche...

so the final statement and arguement is that RWD could not put power down like an 4WD Quattro etc. You all saw that, i knew this kind of problem that's why i don't like so much RWD cars, especially bmw because spinning and spinning loosing grip=little traction=unefficiency=loosing a drag race battle and the worst thing that can happen is that you buy new back tyres very frequently and that's not cost effective. Quattro is spinning only for a moment the tyres and those tyres are performing a lot longer than an RWD car.
p.s. I LOVE THE GTR,very very nice and so fast car but has only one problem:the interior looks like we are in the 80's and for a 2008 car that really sucks no matter what options you put in the GTR you could not change the interior design...

Nice motor, but I don't think I would want one. I want something that is comfortable, fast, and that looks good inside and out i.e. one of the German cars like an RS or an M series. I don't know about you guys but I don't want to have my arse feel every bump in the road and come home after every trip stressed because everything in front of me is going to slow, or feeling like I have to floor it in case anything behind me is trying to keep up.
May be I've just matured a bit (like a stinky cheese)!

The driver's part of the dash of the GTR is it's biggest let down for me, I quite like the exterior, I like the rest of the interior and I love the performance. There is something about the driver's side and the instrument display area that reminds me of the Lotus Esprit.

Unfortunately nobody is going to remove the engine so this is all we have. Safe to say that more than 23hp is lost going from the flywheel to the wheels at any rate.:hihi:

Z07,

It only a small dislike from me, I am just annoyed that after spending a bloody fortune on development they couldn't design a dash that had the passenger and drivers air vents at the same level. It's just poor design compared to the other brilliant work they already did on the car.

Did you happen to see the Fifthgear review with Plato, I was surprised to hear it understeers through fast sweeping corners, much like an Audi does.
