Wow! I would still take the R8 but it needs more power. What is Audi going to be putting in the new R8's? Oh, thanks for the info.

Autocar has just tested the GTR against the 997turbo and if you are a Porsche fan, then best not read it.

Their term for the GTR is 'baby Bugatti' as it is such a landmark model at this price bracket. Based on what I read from the article it looks like Audi, BMW and Mercedes are going to have to pull up their socks if they are going to be considered remotely value for money in this sector. To be able to comfortably pull apart, bit by bit every discipline that makes a Porsche special and do it while costing almost half the price is simply unthinkable.

I love my Audi and will enjoy my M3 when I get it but the simple truth is that I would never have classed the M3 or RS4 a match for a 997turbo, never mind something which was that much better.

the nissan may be faster. but it will never be the daily drive event that the R8 will be. never.

with the V10 the R8 will be on par with the GTR in performance.
