Ok, I watched some movie on autoblog.nl of a russian guy doin' a donut with an (mtm) R8. I didn't really liked the movie but I saw some guy wrote: The 15/85 quattro-system is obviously not the 50/50! I always thought the R8 had like the RS6 and like the rs4(?) the 40/60 systeme. The C5 RS6 had the 'old' 50/50. He told me he heard that this wasn't 40/60 but 35/65 and in extreme 'conditions' 10/90. Now I'm not so sure about myself anymore and when I search I see different thinks. Now I want to hear the truth from the real Audi-fans!

R8 AWD system is the same one as on Gallardo, it is visco based. Not Torsen like on rest of Audi range. In normal conditions it is 30/70 and under heavy acceleration 10/90. Front wheels can handle max. up to 35%...

I might be wrong but I understood the default setting on the awd system would actually 10/90 and not 30/70 but it could put up to 35% to the front in extreme conditions.

Knock me down if I am wrong.

It is not very clear even in R8 catalogue. Gallardo puts around 85% of power normally on rear wheels so, R8 must use similar ratio. It also depends on road condition-for example if the road is wet then ration will be 30/70 as I wrote. If it is perfectly dry it is then somewhere between 15/85 and 20/80 since we drivign the curves as well. In straight line dry road acceleration it is 10/90 as you said. Basically R8 behaves like excellent RWD car most of the time. With ESP in full mode you just get minimal hint of understeer in corners. Put ESP in sport model and that is gone but, little bit of oversteer on the limit is now name of the game. It is however very easy to control and it is fun.
I will repeat-R8 is much, much closer in overall driving feel to Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo then to any current Audi model or even to Porsche 997 series.

Oh, I did not know that! Do you think the r8 would be less good when they would just take the 40/60-systeme?

For mid-engine layout on R8 AWD system with Torsen that Audi use on other models(A4/5/6/8) is simply said NOT possible.

To repeat R8 is closer to Gallardo(and you will see even more of that in Geneva 2008 when Lambo introduce facelifted Gallardo that will use many suspension elements from R8) then to ANY current Audi model.
