Dear Friends,

since yesterday the Press is able to Testdrive the new RS6 Avant in Le Castellet, Grand Prix Racetrack Paul Ricard.

All test cars are equipped with Pirelli PZero Tires, that are certified for OE use.

You can expect the first released Test Details within the next days.

Qisha, do you know if Press can be drive it on the road also. As much as I'd like to believe I would spend all my time driving it on a track this will be a pretty limited test.

It is just first offical Press event for RS6 Avant. German AMS will receive their RS6 Avant test car in mid February so, you can expect first full tests(with measurements) in Mid March...

a handful of cars do have the Ceramic Brake option, most do have the SS+, the Sportexhaust option is fitted as well.

This event is thought to give a first driving impression to the press, well, under safe cirumstances (racetrack).

Dont really think that black makes the car justice. You dont really see the shape of the car, needs to be brighter. Monza or Suzuka makes the trick.

I say that about most cars! Sure black is classy and stealthy, but it hides bodywork and detail in my opinion.

Thanks for the photos in black.
I know that there are only 5 "standard" colours for the RS6.
Misano red, Monterey green, Mugello blue, Phantom black, Sepang blue.

What does the community think of these colours? Which one would you take?

Sepang Blue for me, but I wont lie - It looks GREAT in Masano red too!

Yeh you would think the extra 80-100bhp the RS6 has might just make a slight difference. Bit of a no brainer.

Having driven an M6, below 150 km/h all you really get is the traction control light. So real world acceleration is another thing than theoretic values.

For me it's the first time that i see the facelifted Sedan from behind. Interesting design...

It seems un thinkable that with an extra 80-100bhp + lots more torque and Quattro and all the other technical such, DSG was the first dual clutch system so that must count for something. I just dont know how it could be slower than the M5, let alone the M6 :vhmmm:

:vhmmm: Slower than M5 let alone M6? M6 is faster than M5. As for the gear change speed, SMG does it @ 65ms.
And what is the weight difference between them two? 200kg (!!!) and that's a lot as far as handlings concerned. I also noticed top speed on speedo is @ 320km/h whereas M5's 330km/h. My feeling is that, up to 250km/h RS6 will be quicker but it is all just pure guess work

The SMG3 shifts at 65ms. So it's a little bit quicker, but the Audi has more power and torque. My guess is that it will be close, very close. :addict:

in the german forum rs-quattro.de

members stopped the rs6 in 15,5 sec, and there are rumors around from well informed people that he is hardly matching the 14,9.

i dont know if some of you are parts in this forum, but in generaly some good informed people with technical know how.

Any way we will see, but due to the wihght and quattro loss i think personaly the 100-200 will be slower than the m5.

Dont think that 80 hp officialy, and 100 nm more can catch 200kg more witght.

But lets hope

Don't you think that AUDI also bought an M5 to test their RS6 against the M5 .. i'm sure - because there were also spy-pics with RS6 and M5 somewhere in the north...

So if they had the car to test them - i'm sure that they won't bring a car - which is slower than the M5 ... let's wait for the first tests and see

It is just unbelievable, because it has +100 horsepower and 120 Nm over the M5 and if the M5 is going to be biturboed in the future, Audi really can forget it....

You are 100% right,audi won't bring Rs6 which is slower then M5,i think we should think how much faster Rs6 is against M5,look...old M5 400bhp and old Rs6 has more 50 bhp, it's heavier(50 kg if i'm not mistaken) and also is what audi haters critics audi for Quattro.but what all of us know???
0-100km/h Rs6 is faster,maybe yeah a bit but still it's FASTER!!!
0-200km/h Rs6 is faster as well. so this RS6 i'm sure will be faster then M5.
can you tell me when the first test is going to be???

Chill. Wait for the test results. The RS6 will be fine. It makes its peak torque from 1,500 to 6,000+ RPM, which means that the Audi torque figure is lower than it really is. Same with peak horsepower from 6,250-6,700 RPM. And if anything, compare RS6 Avant with the M5 wagon.

a lot of speculations

witch member here had it heart it self by the quattro gmbh that one of there master goal with the new rs6 is to beat a bmw m5.

Is that not more or less a fix idee of us audi fans and supporter.

Why would it be a disapointement if a 2000kg car with quattro would be a little bit slower than a lighter car with rear weel drive, witch you cant hardly use in the winter...

Im wondering if the new clients of the rs6 would buy only the car if he is faster then the m5. More ore less nobody of the main clients for the rs6 makes there judgement against the care because he might be 2 or 3 tenth slower up to 200 than for example an m5.

Any way the truth comes out sun, but we should not project our main hopes in to an offical quatto gmbh target, witch may never really exist.

(Mean the fact that the new super rs6 main goal should be to be faster in stright line than the m5 or what ever car...)

RS6 will be faster than the M5 ...it wouldn't be launched unless it wouldn't be.
They could easaly get 650 hp from a biturbo V10 if they like to! They've discovered that this kind of power 580 hp will do just fine at the moment!

If i'm wrong which I'm not...buy a chip for 1000$ and get 650 hp

This ''M5 comparison" can we take up again after the German Magazine "Sport Auto" and Horst Saurma journalist have done the "Supertest" with the new RS6. All people in Germany and Switzerland would probably agree on this...

Also we must not be fooled by a Duch journalist (who's private car could be a Mazda 323 1.3l) driving the new RS6 for the first time....:thumb:
