OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooppppsss!!!

:king:

"The Courage tipped today at the port in Jersey City causing major damage to over 300 BMWs not including 70+ BMWs that were total losses.

a majority of the destroyed vehicles were M3s (mostly in dark blue) with a variety of 3ers and 1ers smashed up as well. A small number of the cars destroyed had German Tourist plates on them, those European delivery customers will NOT be getting their cars back.

If you were expecting your M3 or e90/92 in the next month, you're going to be in for a sad surprise.

those cars that were a total loss will be crushed, I asked a BMW rep, he stated that they will not be auctioned as there is a liability for letting those cars on the road. The shipping company's insurance is footing the bill, I do not know how they will handle those cars that are already owned by the European Delivery customers.

Those cars with light damage will be repaired at the Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold through BMW's dealer network as new cars. "

It's easy to laugh but these are someones future pride and joy that have been destroyed. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, well maybe just one person. :D

P.S.

I understand these are dealer's cars for test drives, at least the M3s for the States.

The test drives might be a bit delayed.

Wow. Wonder how happy the owner will be when he buys a BRAND NEW M3 and finds out its been dropped and fixed and sold at full price. Complete bullshit.

Nothing, and I too wouldn't wish it on anyone. I wasn't laughing at the situation or the people affected by it, just pointing out that the lamentably ugly http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1.gif has IMO had its er, challenging aesthetics improved by this 'mishap'.

No one died, and I'd hope that the cars will all be insured and replaced. :thumb:

Please read the first post again.

It says light damage - to me that is still unacceptable. How can you pay for a new car when in reality it isn't?

I've had my share of respraying of cars, and factory paint is always better than what they can do at the dealer.

if i understand what he means, he means that the cars was only for test drives not for any costumer to buy.

is it only i who cant see the pictures? =S

i've had my share of a resprayed car too (a 2007 Mazda 3Sport 2,0) , and i couldn't tell the difference from new and old parts. (a women driving a Audi A4 3,2t on the highway with a trialer loaded the wrong way went over to my lane as i was about to drive pass her, i got on my brakes but it was to late so i went right in her trailer.) The front bumper was totaled an the hood was bent but nothing our little Mazda shop couldnt manage to repair with new parts. =) i dont think you can say that all car painters are bade cuz of your experience...

guys calm down your not going to get a fixed car,BMW will take out the drive line and put it in a new shell,There is nothing wrong with the engines and transmitions on these cars, even the brakes can be salveged.

BTW did you guys read what the msrp is going to be in the states?53k for the sedan and 57k for the coupe...that is such a good deal right there.
