I think a tiptronic S5 was a given, but Audi should have released it at the start. I guess TT RS would have to come out sometime in 2009.

I think that is late. I expected it sooner.

Where is the S4?

The chart ends at 3rd quarter 2008/ probably doesn't have everything listed. All of the cars on the chart have been shown/talked about before and confirmed.

If TT-S is getting the S3 2.0 TFSi with S-Tronic, why don't they put it in the S3 with S-tronic too????????

Leadfoot
December 3rd, 2007, 11:04
No official date has been set for the TT/RS, at the minute it's going through final shake down and fine tuning which will probably continue for the next few months. I guess it will probably show at the next Frankfurt show or there about.

The interesting thing is that the hi-powered Q5 isn't showing in this product cycle.:vhmmm: But at least I am right about the Q5 being first to be showing the new S-Tronic gearbox. :thumb:

Output of the TT/S is slightly higher than the S3 at 270ps.

As for the S4, it too is missing from this list, :vhmmm: I was told mid'08 and even Qisha confirmed that as well so unless both of us are wrong this isn't a complete list of releases.

Why launch the S5 tiptronic if the RS5 is to have DSG??

Seems odd that Audi would have such variance in the line up.

Considering that the RS6 has a tiptronic what makes you so sure the RS5 will have DSG?

I really hope it does, just that logically speaking it would seem most likely to be available as either a tiptronic or manual.

The reason I am so sure is the time scale involved, plus I have been told as much. ;)

EDIT: Leadfoot: 198kW is actually "only" 265hp, just to make it clear.

1::: RS6 probably with the new 7speed DSG or tiptronic???
2::: TT-S with just 265ps??? same hp like S3? is that official? i have read about 275ps.

maybe the car will have more aluminum components and a short shifter from the factory.

i am now TRULY in a quandary about the existence of the 250 hp V6 and in need of a good reason why i would not buy a 2.0 quattro and chip it to make the same power.

Leadie,

Actually you were right! S3 195kw=265ps(German DIN standard)!

So, TTS 198kw=270ps!

I wasn't going to argue the point as I had done the calculations in my head and it's been years since I sat in a classroom.

So the TT/S has a little more than the S3, does anyone know the exact torque figures. I wonder is it possible that the differences in maybe exhaust systems is the reason for this slight gain in power.

Rage
December 3rd, 2007, 23:32
Call me old fashioned but i just dont see the point of the TTS.

20HP/slightly revised grill and a loss of 2 cylinders for thousands of pound more over the 3.2V6???

I mean how much weight can they save?

I appreciate some people have said the current 2.0 handles sweeter then the 3.2.....but give it 20hp more and call it an 'S' ?

Much faster is correct, Frederic has has little fingers that tells him things, well I have a big thumb which does the same. ;)

And according to him you will see an official time of 5.5s to 100km/h which will be easily beaten. Think official S5 figures for the S-Tronic model if not better. ;)

Leadfoot

I was told that during the RS6's development, the engineers at QuattroGmbH wanted to have DSG but there was a cost versus return issue, meaning the development would be greater than the returning revenue. You have to remember that the RS6's quattro system is not the same as the A5 and everything that will come after it. From what I have been told from different sources is that the automatic in the RS6 is a bit more special than the norm.

I think waiting to judge the car when it's here is wiser than concerning yourself with things it hasn't got. :p

Jarod.

A lot of info on this sheet, the one's of interest to me are the RS5 and the TT/RS, the production location I believe means where and when production starts and if so then the times this is showing leads me to believe it a real document for Audi. Two things that are bugging me are there are no production locations with dates for the S4 and RS4 as I have been told when they are to hit the streets and neither are there which is a bit funny.

Good find. :thumb:

Lol:)

The current official time for the 3.2
5.7 sec 0-62
(5.5 sec 0-60)

If the TTS official time is anything greater then 5.0 0-60mph i would consider that not much faster. Leadfoot says officially it will be 5.5 0-60mph/100kmh.

Dont get me wrong - im a MK2 TT fan, just it seems to me that the TTS perhaps should have been what the 3.2 is now...just without the 'S' moniker.

Personally still holding out for RS5/TTRS.

Peace out:alig:

RS will be better option, if course, but I'm just saying that TT-S will out perform 3.2, any day. And I'm saying that not becouse I love 2.0 T, I'm HUGE fan of the VR6 engines...

that is EXACTLY what i believe as well. i think the gen 1 TT was just great- with a HO version of the base engine making 225 and the base 180.

the same should be said of this one.

maybe it is no big deal for audi to produce all three in small quantities. as i suspect that the base 2.0T will be improved to 230 hp, the V6 will make even less sense.

we'll see in one month in detroit how it all pans out. there should be no TT S right now. just an update of the current engines. the TT-S should be the supposed I5 with 300+ hp.

AndyBG
December 5th, 2007, 15:16
It looks like TT is going to end up with five, maybe six engines. There will be something for everybody...

TT 2.0 T - 200 hp
TT 3.2 quattro - 250 hp
TT-S - 265 hp
TT-RS - 310+ hp
TT TDI - 170 hp
TT TDI quattro - 204 hp ??? ( not confirmed yet)

Sorry to correct you Andy but the TT/S has 270hp.;)

To tell you the truth, I can't see a reason for the 3.2VR6 model when the TT/S is launched and may be fazed out in Europe over time. The US market is different of course and chances are this engine will continue and could possibly increase in power.

If that list is real and the A4 get a facelift in 2012.
I can mean we will see the S4 and RS4 after that.
And till that time the A4 3.0TFSI (or 3.0 Kompressor FSI) Quattro DSG TVQ can be the top of the line model. ?

I'm not thinking that we will see 7 engine's in the TT.
It's possible that there will be a few engine striped off.
Most likely the VR6 and the low power 2.0T.
Further i think there will be only one power output TDI engine.

I rekon there will be only 4 engine's and look something like this:

1.8TFSI power output between 160-220 hp (FWD + Quattro).
2.0TFSI power output 270 hp Quattro (TTS)
2.3TFSI power output ± 310 hp Quattro (TT RS)
2.0TDI power output between 170-210 hp (FWD + Quattro).
