I was told by a friend who I think should have a idea on such things that the RS6 will be posting some pretty interesting figures.

When asked what like he just smiled so I started throwing figures out at him, 'what are we talking here, 60mph in 4.7s' no reaction '4.6s' again no reaction, '4.5s' still no reaction so I went for broke and says '4.1s' and he said 'close' with a smile.

Does this mean it possible 4.2~4.3s or dare I say it 4.0s. Needless to say I was a little shocked at this. :MTM:

What can we expect to 100mph..................ask me another time. ;)

2008 RS6 correct?

Yes, new model. This was from the head of the dealership I know who goes to all the internal launches of new products and talks to the personnel from QuattroGmbH present.

I hope his correct as these figures will destroy the competition.

I heard 4.3 a while ago, maybe it's true...wow! thanks Leadie ;)

Should be 4.0 or better from American magazines. If they get a sedan verison to test.

Just remember that Road & Track got the '03 RS6 Sedan to 60 in 4.3 seconds...even though they based it on altitude, temperature, and the like. Audi is pretty conservative in their performance estimates, so I won't be surprised if the new avant will be able to dart to 60 in 4.3 or less. Imagine the new Beast on 100 octane fuel! :addict:

I'm pretty sure that the sedan will do it in the high 3's. 3.7-3.9 to 60.

and with 117 octane fuel ? can you imagine, just for testing ?:jlol:

I think we'll all find out early next year..

Why not? 270hp/ton and AWD is good for 4.0 under the right conditions. The RS6 has about 290hp/ton.

Frederic,

Was your little finger able to confirm if my figures were indeed correct.;)

Just to re-cap, some BMW members of the site believe the M5 will pull harder at higher revs than the RS6. No words needed to answer this belief just some smilies.....:lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl: :lovl:

anyone know when we will know? i.e. when an official production car with production ecu/tcu gets tested?

I think the RS6 makes more torque and horsepower at any RPM when compared to the M5. I made a comparison graph a while back.

Actually I wouldn't celebrate before we know. SMG + 7 gears is quite an effective solution, and don't forget it's the horsepower that wins the race, not the torque. :revs:

I second this, in higher speeds the M5 is a killer with that gearbox. But I'm waiting for a test on the beast where we'll see what it's really made of... :revs:

Just listen to the video with the sound, well it sounds angry.... :rs6kiss:

Yeah the gearbox is special but if the RS6 loses the race against the M5 just do enough of them because sooner or later the SMG will give up the ghost and even a milk float will beat it.

I think Audi tested the new RS6 enough to be completely sure it will be faster than M5 in any ways. Remember of those spy photos when RS6 parked next to an M5 with Ingolstadt license plate? Audi made this car against M5 and had almost 2 years since M5 was introduced. Although this was also the case with RS4-M3 but BMW couldn't beat Audi in the V8 category, we will see the V10s race soon i think.

yes, but don't forget that it is torque that starts the race!

and horsepower that finishes it....

People, could you finalize please your expecations about real 0-100 and 0-200 time for RS6 Avant and Sedan??
Just for comparisson: 2008 Bentley Continental GT Sport with 610 PS, 6sp-auto and 2350 kg of test weight has done 0-100 at 4.5 and 0-200 at 14.9.
Your comments are indeed of great interest!

I have already hinted as to how quick the RS6 will be, do a hurt through the different threads and you will get a pretty good idea. :thumb:
