I wish my C55 accelerated like this:

To me this thing looks to be very bit as quick in acceleration as an M5.

In fact if anything the Merc is the quicker, check this vid of an M5 accelerating from a standing start and I counted 15s from 160km/h ~ 250km/h. I counted even less for the Merc, see what you lot think.

If you put the option auto video of the RS4 Avant and this one of the C63 the RS4 pulls no matter where you match up the speed and start each video. Is the RS4 avant heavier than the sedan? My RS4 with me in it (220lbs) and almost 3/4 tank of gas it weighs 4022lbs.

The C63 is quicker though it's more noticeable above 200km/h where it's extra grunt is more telling.

Very quick indeed, looks like Mercedes have done their homework.

Nice video.
So for C63:

140-160 km/h - 2 sec
160-200 km/h - 4 sec
200-250 km/h - 10 sec

So comparing to other cars, C63 will do 0-200 at 14 sec.

holy shit.....

Here's the R8 acceleration... The C63 seems quicker if you start both vids at 160 km/h:

artur777,

If your figures are correct then the C63 will not only destroy the RS4 and M3 but be able to work it the M5 and dare I say it, the RS6.

If true then it's surely the performance car bargain of the year.

I must say that if the C63 drove as well as either the RS4 or the M3 then I for one would be in talks with my nearest Mercedes dealer. The only sticking point being that automatic gearbox, if this time round it allowed the drive the option to hold on to the gear instead of changing up (something that also distracts from Audi's DSG) then even being an auto might not be the problem I originally thought.

As there is no RS4 available any more, I now clearly need to check it out when they are finally over here for demo drives, before placing my deposit on that other car which isn't an Audi.

Here are the numbers using accurate stopwatch 5 times and getting average:

C63: RS4
140-160- 1.9 Seconds 140-160- 1.9 Seconds
160-200- 4.0 Seconds 160-200- 3.6 Seconds
200-250- 10.2 Seconds 200-250- 11.0 Seconds

it does not nearly do 0-200 in 14 seconds.

Leadie,

The C63 is very likely to receive a DSG too. I remember in an interview, one of Merc's guys was asked about the lack of manual/dsg transmission or something about the M3 having a manual transmission. Anyway the point is that he said something to the effect of "dont worry about that ;)" I think it'll be a new DSG, I cant see them puting a manual in now...

I would wait for the Mercedes version of the DSG. I think it's coming mid 2008.

Agreed, there is not that many cars capable of much quicker and in any case you have to remember that this is a car you put into drive and floor it, a money could drive it.

For the BMW's it's called M-DTC ;)

Yeah, I've ordered an M3 for the middle of the year as there seems to be no word on the S4 or RS5 as yet.

Like I said I was impressed with the M3, though I wouldn't call myself a convert just yet, as I already have a RS5 deposit laid so hopefully will get one of the first to hit the country.

Well done BMW, for building an M car which happens to drive like an Audi.:hihi:

Leadfoot, I understand you well.
I think that it's a very good car to try and compare it to S/RS line.
Congratulations!
Though I am still choosing between RS6 and M3 w/DCT;-)))

What this proves to those people who thought I was a die-hard Audi fan is that regardless of make, when the car is good I can appreciate it and on the rare occasion even purchase the thing, something I never thought would have happened prior to that eventful drive. The gearbox choice I am still undecided, the same thing will happen when I come to choose with the RS5, the only things I am sure about is the colour and interior, Sparkling Graphite and Fox Red.

One thing is for sure, I will never have the CSL version if it's any more extreme than this.

I follow you 100% here in the sense that first of all a brand switch always gives you new think to discover which is great. Then the M3 with SMG/DSG wathever will be a great car.

The only think that would make me wonder is the forthcoming RS5 which will be a hell of a car.

Which one? Well then an S5/M3 is a good choice. I can only afford to have one car, so it has to be something very exciting. If I could have two good cars, why not an S5 and an Exige???

The Lotus I have is a REAL Lotus, one which was built and designed by the great man himself.

Was just at the ring. There was the new M3 cab with some kind of SMG / DSG. It sounded very fast. May up some video of that later. Not so good pics, but some nice Q7 was on the track as well some (RS?)A6. With very hot brakes!

Saw in real life the 1-serie coupe and it was very good looking. Specially the M-sport 135i. Cab version was nice also.

Totally unedited photos right away from a memory card. Haven't had time to do anything more yet. http://www.speedou.1g.fi/kuvat/reissu/
