Seems good. Just skimmed through it...

"BMW claims the 135 is as fast as the old M3, but because of the turbo engine's fat torque curve and its immediate throttle response, it feels even faster than that. The M3 required you to rev it like crazy when you wanted to go fast; all you have to do in the 135 is roll your toes onto the gas pedal."

Sounds promising. For me:

Like:

- Bodykit + wheels
- 3.0 TT engine
- Interior
- Dimensions

Dislikes:

- The fact that we've already seen the headlights/grille on 1 series and when its coming toward you it just looks like a 1 series hatch with a new aero-kit!

- Rear lights are weird, although looking better. Probably because of angle of pics and there are not rear shots, only 3/4 rear-side shots. Also the colour helps blend in the lights, other colours I suspect they'll look weirder.

- The fact that any 1M (M-division) will have the same interior but just loaded with ///M badges.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I actually really like this. And i think BMW's are left better with out the M divisions logo everywhere. This in a different colour, some nice leather, and decent alloys would be very nice. Cant wait to see one in real life because the design is intrguiging in the photos. The 3.0 engine in this car is a bit mad, but i expect fun to drive.
This one is now up there for my favourite realistic BMW. And i think BMW's are better being down to earth as the M division are too loud and you get branded with the BMW driver persona but i dont regard the lower models that way as much.

To me it looks funny, I don't know what it is but the roof and the rest of the car don't gel to me, plus the wheels look tiny, in fact I think even 19" alloys will still look small on this thing.

Apart from that I reckon it's a real winner.

I had a 1series with an ///M kit, similar to the 135i, in the side mirror the other day, and it does have a certain presence. Made me look twice.

1 thing I have noticed is how weak the rear looks from the side profile. I think the exact same about the new 3 coupe. Infact, in general I havent liked many BMW rears since the E46 M3 (CSL even better) and the Z4 roadster. I think especially the 135 and 335 dont have rears that are chunky enough. Look:

Also I think everything after the door looks very small in dimensions, even that pillar, but they still put large wheel arches. I agree there is something not quite right, cant put my finger on it, but overall I am quite impressed with the 135i (see above post) and I think it will sell...

I'm still not sure how to explain, but I think if you stretch everything after the doors (except arches) the rear will be more proportioned to match the everything ahead of the doors. Look:

audi needs RS3 for that ! ! !

HKS786

Well the RS3 would actually be a rival to the M version of the 1 hatchback. I think Audi needs a small coupe to match this, but I doubt we'll see anything soon.

BMW clearly wins on this level since there arent really any other direct rivals. Maybe they got the idea because the 3 series coupe has grown and actually has more rear room than the 6 series! Therefore they wanted to produce something a little cheaper/smaller than the lastest 3 coupe.

But I guess you win some you lose some. BMW dont have anything to rival the R8 :D

Well the RS3 would actually be a rival to the M version of the 1 hatchback. I think Audi needs a small coupe to match this, but I doubt we'll see anything soon.

TT already is an A3 coupe in some ways but it's a much better car than an A3. Imbeciles critcise it as an A3 with a bodykit or a squashed beetle but it's a much better car - it's aluminium infested chassis, the suspension systems etc make it a great little car to drive.

At the moment the BMW has a small advantage in power but the TT 3,2q which is essentially right on it in price, based on UK pricing at least, has AWD (which some will appreciate as more important than being able to light up the little orange light half the time), better design and about the same interior space with both this and the 1er coupe being useless in the rear.

BMW might be a bit more fun on a racetrack but that's never going to make a financial going concern for Audi to put another car in there, more than enough people actually buy cars to drive them on roads. One company might be able to justify it financially as a nice but 2 companies will only make a financial bloodbath between them as the market for a 2 seat plus a parcel shelf with seatbelts car within 20% of the price of a Porsche Cayman is going to be limited.

Fortunately or unfortunately car companies aren't run by 15 year olds and they don't always feel the need to compete in schoolyard pissing competitions. Analyse BMW and Audi's products carefully and you will see both lineups on a product level have clear virtues which appeal to one type of person or another. Maybe it's not an accident. If they both matched each other where would be the fun in that?

Good points raised, but I think the TT is more of a Z4 rival than the 1 Coupe. As much as I prefer Audi over BMW and Merc, I think it's fair to admit that it was a good decision by BMW to make the 1 coupe. It fits nicely under the 3 coupe and I'm sure it'll sell.

Sanjuro

It will sell for sure as it's the best wannabe brand in the world just now, Especially the US with the possible exception of Porsche.

The TT though covers it for Audi: as much as the design is more like the Z4 the functionality will be the same as the 1er coupe.

Audi's A3 cabrio will go against the 1er cabrio I guess on the looks of the mules as both will have rear seats but an A3 coupe in a world where the TT exists would just be canibalistic.

Actually this 1series coupe is more of a rival to the TT than the Z4 will ever be. For starters it has four seats like the TT and it's styling is more in keeping with the TT.

I reckon of all the current coupe in the TT's price bracket it will be this 1series which will be most able to steal sales from the TT and this 135i will be the one which clearly has an engine supremacy over the current TT choices.

The only saving grace is the fact that it's pig ugly.puke:

Oh yeah, the rear seats. Very very important point. I retract my statement. The TT does infact have rear seats and they are quite reasonable, they arent totally useless.

Regarding styling, I still think I like the coupe style of the 1 Coupe over the TT's hatch, however, that wouldnt be a deciding factor for me. The 135i with aerokit looks good, but so does the TT S-line. Amazing actually. Not to mention that the TT does have a nicer interior.

Sorry mate, am I right in saying you think the 1series coupe looks better than the TT. :eye:

That van that just this minute pulling up outside you front door is full of men in white coats to take you away. :hihi:

haha :lovl:

overall, no. BUT I do like the roofline/bootlid style of the 1 Coupe over the "hatch" style of the TT. However that's only ONE plus of the 1 Coupe IMO. The Audi wins hands down with the aggressive bumpers, front/rear lights, interior etc. I wasnt very clear lol.

The world takes all sorts of opinions I guess.

Many for example think that bird from the Black eyes peas is quite attractive.

but like the one series many don't

a world without variety would be dull, but I prefer the TT

If they put a hard roof on the A3 cabrio, (making it a CC) then many people might compare it to this when the roof is up...

:harass: BWAHAHAHA.....damn man....she REALLY looks horrid on that shot...
As for the car....I officially like the 135i Coupe...love the domensions of itm and the engine. Not a big fan of the grille....but with BMW things can't go right on the desing department.

Overall = I love it.
