And guess what?
Powered by that same 10 year old 420BHP 4.2 supercharged V8 in the XK.
0- 100 KMPH in aroound 5 sec, top speed 155 electronicly limited.
There are other engines, 3 other engines, a 2.7 liter V6 turbodiesel, a 3 liter V6, and a normal 4.2 V8.
All in side light wight all aluminum body.
Looks awsome though it's not all that diffrent form the concept , they've done
a very good job in my opinion.

I'm sensing a slight disagreement. (It's you opinion though , and I'm in favor of democracy ' )
But let me as you this:
If those 2 were lined up infront of you which would you take?
The light and nimble all Aluminum body 4.2 liter supercharged V8 executive saloon
that can do 0-100 in arround the 5 sec and in to top speed of 250?
Or the 4 cilinder 2 liter tin foil made sadan that on a good day will give you 0-100 in over 10 sec?
Point made???
I think they did a great job , it look great In My Opinion.
It looks farbetter that the Mondeo.

I'm not sure does it even look better than the Mondeo. But anyway, my point is I really don't want to buy Jaguar which looks like a Mondeo. Of course I would pick that over Ford but if I have to use money I wouldn't even think for a second that car...

I think it too distant from the concept. The concept car was SO damn hot looking that anything less would look....well.....like "rubish".

Repost, no worries though ;)

Obviously there is some resemblance, but I dont think you will notice it on the road so much. Here's comparison shots:

I actually like the Jag, though I personally don't see the connection between it and the Mondeo. I reckon if anything it looks more like the Aston Martin 4door thingy that might make production.

If I had a pipe and slippers I reckon this would be the very car I would buy.

P.S.

It's probably great to drive as well, though this is only an opinion of mine. ;)

Overall Id say:

- Mondeo has edgier design whereas the XF has a more flowing design
- Mondeo's body looks very "rigid" and has a higher stance whereas the XF looks as if it's sitting very comfortable and lower to the road. Hard to explain.
- XF has traditional square grille for saloon and new headlights/bumper, all of it completely different from the Mondeo
- XF has sidegrille, Mondeo has none
- Rears are completely different again.
- Door handles are the same lol ;)
- Interiors are SO different

I think at first glance in PICTURES they might look the same. On the road I dont think they will. I'll make further judgement when I see them in the flesh together ;)

I agree. Cant wait for reviews and cant wait for XF-R. Leadie, I remember seeing a Whatcar video and someone wanted a 5 series rival, but more of a coupe look, and said the XF was perfect

There is lots of design elements in the interior which are clearly pointing to the American market where this car really has to be a success or Jaguar is in big trouble. The exterior is amazing, but for the fact that it looks so good which is does, but more the fact that it's basically designed on the old S-type underpinning, who would have thought such a pretty car was there all a long.

I reckon it won't appeal to the younger customers who currently buy German because it's to elegant, where as we the buying public of all things German (namely Audi and BMW) look for more functional and purposeful designs. The only potential customers I see are from brands like the Lexus (of course), Mercedes, possibly Infinity and the other high-end US products.

I wish it all the success as I reckon Jaguar deserve it.

You know what? you're absolutely right. For those who think it's based on the Mondeo, it actually has the S-type underpinnings ;) I remember hearing that a while ago...

To tell the truth, the old S-Type was acyually a fine driving car which was only let down by it's old fashioned looks. Though in fairness the new car is a lot more than just a re-body of this old model.

Yeah I remember when they took it round the Nurburing in Topgear. Classic episode...:D You are right about the last statement. I like the idea of the S-V8 and XF-R models. In a way it's like Audi's S/RS divisions...
