The funny thing about the M3-fanclub is how they use to stick to the 0-200 time of the E46 M3 from a german mag wich was 16,8 sec or so!

When the B7 RS4 came they all raved about the superfast E46 doing 200 in 16 sec and the RS4 being kind of slow ....I heaven't heard a word from them since the new M3 was launched :vhmmm:

Is it true that the new M3 isn't faster than the old one?? Perhaps the old one really did 200 in about 19 wich I've claimed in like 100 threads inhere?? :vhmmm:

Great test by Swedens best mag :thumb:

Not to be a party pooper or anything ...

But those figures for the M3 don't look realistic; it should AT LEAST be a match for the RS4 to 200.

As for the old M3, it did it in about 18 right? and the S4v8 in about 19 eh?! And just of add to the confusion; the S5 takes about 18 right? and the 335i in about 19?

Please do correct me if I am wrong.

I agree that high 16s for the M3 are poor but in fairness traction will always be a problem so it's times will vary more than the RS4. Officially the S4 was 20.6s but my own car did it in high 18s with a stopwatch so allowing for human error, say 19.5s. The best for a S5 so far is 18.3s so an average of 19s is about right and around the 20s for the 335i would again be closer to it's average.

I have said on numerous occasions that no standard E46 M3 was able to do 200km/h in 16.8s, but our statement will no doubt spark another argument on this very subject.;)

These 0-200 times are in line with what other magazines are quoting, within 1 second from highest to lowest.
Why should the be wrong?

If anything, their 0-200 time for the RS4 is VERY impressive.

* BMW E92 M3: 15.7s (Autobild&Sportatuo)
* BMW E92 M3: 15.8s (BMW)
* BMW E92 M3: 16.0s (Dutch Mag)
* BMW E92 M3: 16.7s (AM&S)

Automobil say the biggest problem is getting the power down from 0-100 km/h. :revs: :burnout:

haha the new m3 wasn't even faster than the old! that's not good news for bmw. I wonder how it's gonna do against the c63? it's 1st place at the podium is now not so definite at all.

and in all the mag review videos I've seen when they test it around a track, they more or less drift non-stop. sure it's a cool factor but I think it's got problem putting down all the horsies on the ground, much more difficult to drive.

The average of the M5 is 14.4s while the RS4 and M3 averages are 16.1s. The RS4 and M3 are quick, quicker on the track in fact than the M5 but in a drag race the big M5 is in a league of it's own.

Well until the DADDY arrives that is.
