View Full Version : How clean is your RS4 ????????

I have decided that a RS4 not only atracts attention but also dirt.

I now have a relatively quick method to clean the car minimising any scratches.

I am also convinced the zymol on the car saves stone chips as the surface is smooth and stops the stone digging in.

First off how dirty it looks.

This is my Karcher which I bought quite a few years ago. It also produces hot water, but I don't use that on the RS4 as I don't want to remove the zymol.

The Lance, but I have always fancied one with a angle end ... never seen a nice one to buy ..

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture014.jpg

So out with spray, note how clean the front of the car is ..

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture015.jpg

I use to use hot Wheels.. but despite what MG say, you can smell acid .. I now use P21s, but today nothing as the wheels have jet seal 109 on.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture017.jpg

I now have a fully wet car...

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture019.jpg

This is the foam gun I use, I add a splash of Zymol wash to it

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture021.jpg

Yum, Foam foam foam

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture022.jpg

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture024.jpg

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture026.jpg

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture079.jpg

While foam does it's job, I make up my wash bucket

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture033.jpg

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture034.jpg

I now spray the car off to remove the foam and hopefully any dirt

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture035.jpg

At this stage I have not touched the car or wheels by hand.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture039.jpg

looking much better

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture043.jpg

Now I start to wash and include the door shuts... I use the jet wash without the lance to clean the sponge..

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture045.jpg

This is what I use to clean the wheels and ALSO the inside of the exhaust at the back. The exhaust were cleaned with Zymol metal cleaner and only need soapy wash to stay shiny

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture046.jpg

No Kerbed alloys here, LOL

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture049.jpg

Behind the caliper, but you still need to move the car slightly if you want 100% job.

Clean exhaust

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture054.jpg

Now I spray off

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture056.jpg

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture057.jpg

I use this to dry, with the odd squirt, LOL

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture059.jpg

I also have this

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture061.jpg

I now dry all the wheels, note different towels,

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture062.jpg

No fading of my RS logo, as I don'y use acid on my wheels

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture063.jpg

Sometimes, I wipe the tyres down with this ...

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture064.jpg

Job done, but the light has just gone, LOL .. about 1 hour

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x313/Andyuk9112/RS4%20wash%20oct2007/Picture067.jpg

The following morning ..

Quite same way with different product that I do. Good wax is the most important thing. After that keeping car clean is so much easier.

Nice Job Andy. I envy you coz we can't do that in Sydney due to water restriction laws in placed. My K'Archer is collecting dust.

Great work - where do you get the wheel brushes from?

Andyuk911
October 7th, 2007, 09:14
I buy the brushes from a UK company called The Polishing Company, but I know they are made in the US. I have no idea of the name.

Great job Andy but a pure wool wash mit is probably a better bet than a sponge as it reduces the dreaded swirl marks:rs4addict

Andyuk911
October 9th, 2007, 23:06
Most people have dropped the mit as it can trap dirt you can't see.

I use a Zymol sponge ....and water off the whole time .. almost like the 2 bucket method :)

I'll give that a try next time.:thumb: Phantom Black is a bloody nightmare for showing swirls
