black series SL. new R8 V10 competitor

i bet this baby will pushing out well close to 600 hp. and cost 200K USD to boot. well overpriced, of course.

i can't wait till september to see what kind of a V10 engine audi plans to put in the R8.

Is this SL coming from the new chassis? I've seen the spyshots for the 2009 SL and it looks to be hideous compared to the R230, and the only thing noticeably different is the front grill and bumper. No way to go but down I guess after making one of the most beautiful cars in production. This isn't about looks though, but would great to see an SL perform how it looks.

Most likely a detuned (±530 hp) RS6 5.0 V10 Bi-TFSI engine.
530 hp is a magic number, both the Gallardo Superleggera and the Porsche 997 GT2 have it.

So this won't be a convertible? Anyways, the SL 65 AMG is the top hp version that MB has and I doubt this one will get more than 600. Not like it matters as the 600 and 65 AMG vehicles have almost no difference in performance.

The V10 R8 is supposed to be turbocharged.

The V10 will not be Turbo charged , this is decided by the board, as outwith they would kick the Lambo's out of the job.
No matter how, the R8 is not car drag racer or freeway racer, take it to the track, that's what it is made for.

i think the V10 R8 will slot below the gallardo in hp. and my guess is that it'll make a healthy 500 hp (it'll definitely be in the 500's as this is a huge marketing and selling point). i've heard the gayardo will be in for a final hp bump close to 550 before it is replaced in 2-3 years.

b/c of this i don't think it'll have turbos (the R8 V10) because it would be too powerful. but it'll be powerful enoguh to undercut the gayardo by 60K and perform within 10% of the gayardo. it'll also be enough to go head to head with the upcoming 997 TTS, lexus and acura supercars.

I agree that it would be N/A as this is in keeping with this type of car, the exception being Porsche 997TT and GT2. But if Audi did offer the R8 with turbos then I reckon it would have been kicking out only 500hp and less revs of course but with a big fat torque band, this isn't the type of power one would want or expect from this especially after the high revving V8 that is in the baby R8.

I guess we will see V10 5.2L N/A and 510hp @7500rpm and 400ft/lbs @ 5000rpm.

I didn't think the '09 SL was getting a new chassis? More just a major facelift a-la CLS i thought. :vhmmm:

This Black Series SL looks to be brutal though, love the flared arches and retractable spoiler!

Can't wait to see the finished version!

I don't think a twin-turbo'd V10 R8 will stop any Gallardo from being sold. I, for one, am hoping and predicting the V10TFSI.

Mason i think that Photoshop form Worldcarfans.com is a poor effort. The front will be very similar to the CLS, but with a much wider grille, same sort of width as the CL. Well, that's what i'm expecting anyway!
