Yes I know, it's a very good idea but I did post but made no big news about it as it was a last minute choice.

Class pictures Erik as always.

But the damaged M5 and LU-RS6's picture got me thinking. How many RS model cars do you or any of the group know to have been damaged on the ring compared to other brands.

You see I have a bet with a mate that proportional I reckon less RS cars have been damaged/wrote-off because of their quattro awd system than any other.

It only my opinion but I would love to know if I am right or wrong on this.;)

My bet indeed more RWD cars are being crashed on the Ring in comparison to AWD/Quattro's. Logically, I think.

IMO, and I think we audi drivers have to be honest about that, a RWD car such as the M3 is much more difficult to master, and thus a bigger challenge.
A Quattro will allow a mistake here and there...

This was my belief also but as the ring is one of those tracks which can catch you out and get you in to problem before you know it, I was wondering if even in these occasions that the Quattro's abilities allow it a better than normal chance of pulling you through.

This is what I reckon is true from the my experience in rallying but then again you are trying to get the car out of shape instead of keeping it neat. ;)

Stupid bet ;)

First of all, the parking lot is full of Porsches and BMWs and not until lately has there been a lot of S and RS cars there. So if you've seen a lot of Porsches and BMWs crashed vs. other brands it might be because they're over represented overall. And don't forget Audi's ESP that goes in when you push the brakes.

The only thing that's safe to say is that don't ride a bike, the chances of ending up in the statistics is much much higher. Then rental cars I think...

And yes, one last thing. We swedes think that English people must be highly over represented in accidents. True or not, I have no proof but a feeling. :hahahehe:

Have a look at this video, apparently the Citroen ZX is the safest bet ;)
Nice ride down Fuchsrohre... :hihi:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63_Zc4BGaZU

And then the idiot just drives straight out, a lot of cars will pass there at 200-250 km/h and need the ideal line. Just imagine what could have happened when the thought it was safe...

It's only a faint guess, but I think there are also more English people @ the Ring in comparison to other nationalities except for Germans. :hahahehe:

But hey, I'm sharing your feeling. Regretfully I've seen quite a few doing some crazy manoevres on the NS. :nono:

This is why I said proportionally compared to other brands not total numbers.;) I know Audi cars will be fewer on the ground than BMW and Porsche, but the idea is valid as we all here go on any how we all feel Quattro is safer and easier to control near to limits than other set-ups, namely rwd set-ups, I thought if proportionally fewer Audi Quattro cars crashed then maybe our opinion was valid.

As for Audi's ESP kicking back on when you pushed the brake, in all the years of driving Audis I never knew this. I knew that only recently ESP could be fully disengaged but thought this meant it was off until it was either turned on again or the car was turned off (engine) and restarted in SAFE MODE (ESP on). But as my recent Audis have been a 2004 S4 and 2007 Q7, both models couldn't be fully disengaged I can only plead ignorance.:looking:

As for Bikes, well this is a subject I would prefer not to comment on as I have very strong opinions on bikes and bike safety. As for the English thing, well what can I say, I always thought you swedes were mad but clearly we hold the banner for this I suppose. :thumb:

Thanks for the pic! We so miss that car! Good to see it's in good company ;)

I had to left it to Manthey because the stock clutch couldn't handle the power anymore. They will also add a LSD so it should be great! :mech: :thumb:

Erik, I know you have a lot of contacts. So would anyone in Sweden be interested in these kind of rare and light Techart 3-piece 18" wheels for the 996TT/C4S:

Well how strange it may seems but on the ring its so very common to see all kinds of crashed cars so after some time there one hardly rise an eyebrown.

All kind of cars go off regardless AWD, front or rear. They land on the most strange places some time, you cant belive how they even got there flying over amcros way in the woods. One thing i have lernt over the yers on the ring, one should never say...how the fuck did that smuck do to land in that tree top.....the reason one never should say this is due to the next split second it might be me sitting in a tree top woundering how the fuck i could mange to land my car 50 meter off track...in a tree top
Its sad to say its almost the same whit damaged peopel smashed out on track, broken bones and blood all over. Often helicopters land on track picking up bike riders on a stretch carrier, i seen and been on the ring when sevral have died over the years, still i go there, faster than before, its a strange place.

Many times i been close to run over bikers laying flat on the track, many times peopel i know have done the same, but even closer to run them over, so they had to turn the car in to mr AMCRO and smash the car to not hit the biker on track.
In many ways ring is love, but in many ways mad to be there:confused:

This may sound a bit anti-bikest, but why not close this track from use by bikers?

On the few bikers I know who had rode on the ring comment on how bumpy it is and that to stay on is as much a problem as anything when the speed increases. It amazing me that the German authorities allow not only the continued use on the ring by bikes but that the combination of the two, bikes and cars to be allow on together. When you think about it even farther than this, why do they allow such a wide range of capabilities of drivers and cars to be allowed on at the same time.

If you look a the history of the Le Mans and ALMS series you will see that even with professional and semi-pro drivers, the wide ranging capabilities of cars/drivers have resulted in numerous accidents that were caused solely because of this variation.

Don't get me wrong here, I love the fact that there is such a track that is open to the public in such a time but you can also see that such openness could lead to it's very closure.

Regarding the Ring the only conclusion you can make is:

There are no winners, only losers.

At times they accualy dont let bikes out. Kind off if its been wet and drying up, well then the bikes go out, and often they crash in numbers, they the ring use their loud spekers on the parking....no bikers for lets say 30min or so, only cars. Then it dry up and bikes is let out again.

Nowdays i try to not drive the touristfharen so much as there are to much peopel on track so its no fun anyway depending on speed well one then nead to brake and overtake all time.

There are trackdays like RMA or Sport Auto, then its fine, few cars on track and NO bikers or touristbusses etc.
