read about this in the motor trend release. can anyone at the show confirm this information?

this is BIG news. if it is accurate this would make sense of the entire audi line-up's future engine plans.

in the US, a base A4 with such an engine would mean a perfect slot for a TT 3.2 V6with 300-320 hp. in turn, i take it audi would put a larger NA V8 into the S4 (maybe 400 hp) and apply TT's to it to make an RS4 (480-500 hp).

further, the aforementioned larger V8 could power the new base A8, etc....

i'd love to hear some opinions.

Having in mind that B7 A4 was avaliable with 2.0 T producing 220 hp, I think that we can expect 250 in the B8...

What seem to be certain is a 2.0 TFSI version with 211 HP.

This is the one that is at display at the IAA as a A4 hybrid drivetrain study.

But when it will be available? And S-line? And my favorite, RS4 like rims, like on the show car?

my guess is that you can only get nicer rims on the 'ambition' and 'ambiente' optionlines, and because of the fact that those are not yet in the configurator, you can't configurate nice rims (yet)

I have to say, the more I see the new A4 the more I like what I see. I reckon if the new S4 gets the v6 Bi-turbo I for one will be knocking my dealer's door down for a test drive and order sheet.

Yes, I am!
HKS786 (http://www.rs6.com/forum/member.php?u=5288) said in 2008 Tokio (November) - so 2009 in showrooms.
Most of his predictions turned out to be true

It sucks! I so wanted to see it in IAA with A4!
But we also have Tokio 2007 (November), Detroit 2008(January), Geneva 2008 (March) May be on some of those, as competitors have C63 AMG and I saw spy pics of M3 Saloon to be introduced in the begining of 2008.
But I really don't care now, as I have to order a car before this December.

I hope his source's knowledge of the S4 is better than the RS6 because quite a lot he actually got wrong.;) Though like you said some was correct so maybe the guy knows more about the general things than specifics. I for one would have expected Audi to release the S4 a lot sooner than 2009 because like you said the competition aren't waiting around and if Audi bring us the S4 in 2009 when will we see the RS4, 2010 or even 2011. That would be a full three years after the M3 and C63.

My guts feeling is either Tokyo or Detroit as I reckon Geneva will see the Q5 show it's face.

and the A4 Avant, which might well be my next drive.:wo: I declared 2008 as the year of "roadrunner getting an Audi"

I'm with you on the S4 - lets wait this couple months (Tokyo, Detroit) than we will see what is the deal

Interesting article i found, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20763997/

which might hint that we see the Q5 in Detroit :vhmmm:

I agree, I doubt it will have 370hp from a 3.2 Bi-turbo as this will place it above the S5 and it is to be regarded as the sportier model. Unless this engine is to replace the current V8 in the S5 I can't believe Audi will be offering it in the S4 with more power, so based on this I think 335hp will be nearer the true figure.

I think its quite obvious that the new S4 will have the same engine as the new S5, same platform and everything.. saving the goodies for future RS-models..

No logic in promoting the S4 over the S5, it should basically be priced below S5 as well I'd predict..

So you are actually believing the B8 S4 will come with less hp than the current S4?????

My guess is that we will see the 4.2 V8 FSI in the S4, 350hp. Maybe with some more power, but then they also need to upgrade the S5.

no guys. one answer is- audi will replace the S5 engine with the TT V6 ~350 hp or more, which will also go into the S4. question is. in the USA- what will be the powerplant above the 200 hp 2.0 TFSI?

the other answer is that audi will replace the 265 hp 3.2 FSI with a TT version of it making 300 hp or so. allowing the S4 to accept the current S5 engine.

what is MOST INTERESTING is that that "intercooler" we see in the S4 mules doesn't look at all like the one in the S5.

wonder what audi has up its sleeve.

Whatever they do I really hope Audi won't make the same mistake BMW did with the 335i being as powerfull as an new M3/M5 (with the procede chip v2 the 335 should get same hp as the new m3). If I buy an S4 I surely wanna receive more than a regular A4 (if they TT the 3.2 in the A4 then with a chip it could match the V8 S4 easily).

As about S4 getting the same engine as the S5 is no big deal at all, both cars are the same size pretty much, same frame, same everything, price difference is only couple grands, so why not?
