It's time for new snow tires. I used Pirelli 240 Snowsports for three winters, and they were great. Now Tirerack is recommending Blizzak LM-25s since they rate the Blizzak higher and also the Pirelli's are no longer being made.

What's the concensus here?

The Blizzaks are rated XL and V while the Pirrellis are NOT rated XL for load.

Mike

PS I had the original Blizzaks on my M3, and when I got the next set it was the LM-25's (about 1999 or so) and they were difinitely better than the original Blizzaks (quieter and better dry road handling).

I'm a Dunlop WinterSport M3/3D person. Love them for handling in dry as with snow. Will put them on possibly in another 2 weeks.

that's the second vote I have seen for the Dunlops....ICONCLS on Audiworld also likes them....I have no particular bias as the Pirelli's gave good traction and good wear....all are about the same price.

The only issue I had with the Pirelli's was the tire height, they are taller than the summer tires on the same sized rims with the same numbers.....how about the M3s?

Like dunlops too. Two seasons on them. Perform well.

another vote for Dunlop M3 :thumb: ...

Blizzaks IMHO are better for Q7 size of vehicle, when it gets tough - than you'd not drive RS6 anyway :hihi:

Dunlops here, too - no complaints, and I would imagine very similar winter conditions to you.

I use the Blizzak LM-25's for my S6(19in). I live in the mountains of Colorado, and they perform very well. Dry traction and noise is pretty good as well. Its almost time for me to put my snows on up here.
