yikes. wonder if someone will shoehorn the RS6 engine into the RS5. or more likely the non TT version that will go into the R8.

You will never get a V10 under the bonnet of the A5/S5/RS5, there is no room for it.
The front of the V8 is almost agains the grill, that's why the RS5 will have a V8 Biturbo.

There is some colours that make the M3 look awful, this isn't one of them.

As for a V10 M3, hey who said only Audi could make a nose heavy rocket ship. :hihi:

i honestly don't think two turbos will fit under the hood of the A5 if the engine has 8 cylinders. for the RS5, audi will have to massage the current RS4 engine a bit or introduce a new higher displacement V8 or turbocharge a V6.

It will be two small spooling turbo's.
And with some tuning you can get 450 hp out of the RS4/R8 engine.

Trust me when I say that it is an option that Audi are considering for the RS5. Like Hans says, they will be small, similar to what BMW have used in the 335i and anyone who has sampled both the 330i and the 335i will know what a big difference that 30+hp has made to the whole experience.

As for a V6 turbo unit, well that might be going in to the S4.

iceman seems to be making a statement that is fact. is it? :) i'd sure like to know.

i am not a businessman but i would need a good explanation for why audi would do that when the A5 chassis has lost about 200 lbs over the B7 chassis. adding to that is the fact that two turbos in a V8 would make it a BEAST! and probably faster than the V8 R8. so why?

i'll just sit back and wait. but i think that audi has already decided on the engine leadie. it's not like they are still debating between various potential powerplants.

if the RS5 does get a TT V8 it'll make at least 500 hp. i just don't see it with the R8 the way it is. if it does than great, but i'll have to save my pennies to get a V10 R8 LOL

Hans might be privy to info that I am not, I have been told that this engine has be in testing for some time, in fact EVO mention that they heard what sounded like a v10 in a test mule, this might have been the engine they heard mistaking it for a v10 or quite possibly Audi have indeed tried a v10 in the A5 chassis. If it fitted then there wouldn't be any problem fitting the v8 with a couple of small turbos.

I agree that more than likely the engine choice has indeed been already settled but I wouldn't be surprised to see numerous RS5 mules running around with different options just to keep the competition guessing.

Power from such a unit would at the very least be over 450hp but I reckon a figure of 470hp will be the end result if this will indeed be the chosen engine. As for it being quicker than the R8, so what, the R8 is not all about being quick in a straight line and it's in the corners that I still think the R8 will have the edge over all current and near future RS models. Unless they have something very special in line for the chassis that hasn't been seen as of yet. ;)

Only in the wrong color IMHO.
Black, White or Red would be the better colors for it.

Hm interesting debate.

But i don't think, that RS5 (if planned) will get anything other than an V8 like the RS4.

I guess it will change in the next edition of Audis A4, when 3.0 BiTurbos return.
Hopefully the RS Versions are getting Turbos again.

But at the moment A5 has only got the actual engines of the A4 B7, so i don't think they'll fit anything other than an V8 in the RS5
(but it will still be a beast, and with the RS4 Bumpers, it might look so damn good!) ;)

But back to topic... really astonishing car.
Must be a real beast to drive ; )

OK, I will come clean, it was hinted to me that the RS5 will be a V8 Bi-Turbo, the only thing I'm unsure of is the size of the engine because the hint of down-sizing was also mentioned. As for the S4, yes it will also be Bi-Turboed but it will be a V6 engine and the RS4 will use this same engine only in a much higher state of tuned.

Both will be offered with Torque-Vectoring Quattro systems. :hahahehe:

Just shows how easy it would have been for BMW to spice up the current E92 ///M3's cabin. I racey steering wheel, some bucket seats, some real carbon fiber.

I wonder did they get AUDI EXCLUSIVE to do the interior work.:hihi:
