I'm going in next week for an oil change (I'll have them check the brakes at the same time, just in case) but my feeling is that the pad are still good on mine and I just crossed the 18,000 km mark.

I'll keep you posted on the result of the maintenance.

I had to change pads and disks after 4 laps on the Nring... that was painful.... the car was rattling like mad.... it felt like the front was about to fall apart when braking hard @ speed....

Luckily Audi felt that this was not normal and I did not have to pay a penny for it!!!

THANKS AUDI :0: :0: :0: :0: :0: :0: All thumbs up!!!!

I have heard the car does indeed eat brake pads quickly.

We used the RS4 a many laps on the Nürburgring and always after 8 laps we must change the brake pads on the steel brake .

30,000 kms and one track day.....original tyres and pads still going strong !! Tyres are now due to be replaced within the next 1000 k's.

You must do a lot of stop /start driving to wear them out in 18,500 ?

As promised (took a bit longer because I wanted to validate that thing with the 24H8 update at the same time)

So, brakes are 9mm think in front 10mm in back. They start at 13mm and are considered good until 4-5mm in front and 3-4mm in back.

I'm now 19,500km and I used 4mm which leaves me with another 4-5mm to be used (so less than 50% used). At that rate I should be able to reach 40-45k before having to change them.

I've never been hard on brakes in any of my cars (I use downshifting with rev-matching everytime I can) so I might not be a good reference... I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Cheers!
