a bit fuzzy, but you should be able to read the numbers. essentially the Z06, GT3, regular vette, and Exige S came in ahead of the R8 in terms of lap time. each car had its forte. the R8's was cornering and pulling G's- it had the MOST overall grip it seems. putting it all together it is obvious that the R8 is the easiest and safest car to drive overall because it is more accessible, confidence inspiring, neutrally handling than all those in the top five. the writing was a bit diasppointing because it was very sparse. i think their focus was to let the numbers speak for themselves. the GT3 was a better drive than the TT, more forgiving and less expensive. the vettes had poor steering feel, but very balanced.

the point that everyone knows by now, that the R8 is the most comfortable daily drive overall of all those that were in the top 5, added to its performance in this test make it an astounding car. and the best of all imo. there is no other way to read it. every car will have it's preferred type of track.

the 335i got kudos. it did better than the Z4M coupe!

the RS4 was pegged as a pig, perhaps because the R8 was present for comparison.

the Shelby was made out to have a very unsorted chassis with brusque unpredictable body control held in check by lots of traction.

Previous test results from that track were also interesting.

The article explains that the Z06 was significantly helped by the new shocks and the GT500 was hampered last time by a timing fault during its best lap. There is, however, an interesting note in the "Rules" section of the article -- three editors were the drivers, and each was assigned four or five of the cars. Makes one wonder whether noticeable differences exist between the three drivers' skills.

Correct and many people laugh at Top Gear saying it's more entertainment than about the cars but at least they used top quality professional racing drivers to do their track tests. And these guys and girls can knock out lap after lap in within a tenth or so of each other, now that's something very few magazine editors could do.
