Sorry Wolfi but the car is too expensive, I have paid for 26000km and a 4/04 model 42000€. Tuning won't be paid. It's just a sign for hard driving and that you can't have an Audi Car Live Plus, the add on from its warranty, cause chipped cars can't get it. And you aren't an Audi dealer with "Gewährleistung". I would never buy an RS6 from another partner than Audi. And there are more than enough Audi dealers who want to sell their RS6 much cheaper with warranty.

But yours is green - surely that's worth 20% less than black? It would be in the UK anyway and yes, I am 100% serious.

Hi,

I don't think green is the cause, because color ist just a question of what you like. Goodwoodgreen is rare so last month one goodwoodgreen RS6 was sold for 63000€. But I see the situation in general, there are also cheaper blue, silver, grey and black ones with warranty at (Audi) dealers, standing there for month.

There are really a lot 2003 RS6 at dealers all in the above mentioned colors. I prefered a 4/04 model cause it has the RNS-E and some other goodies from the RS6+ like the Euro 4 catalysts and so on.

Hello,

due to the fact, that one prospective made a contract with a deposit and did not come again, I can drop the price to 39 k€.

How is the tuning? Does it affect the gearbox, diffs?
I would be tempted to say that topping the power by 100hp must strongly decrease the lifetime of some parts.
Did you change anything (torque converter, whole gearbox..)?

I am asking as I am looking for a used RS6 for myself but I am a bit scared of those tuned examples..

Hello Michal12,

for my RS6 I can see in the Audi-history that the preowner had to change the gearbox with 40tkm - but that was before the car was tuned and Audi made it for free (obligingness). The Audi-engineer said to me that it is nearly impossible to break this gearbox. The gearbox is the same than they use in the A8 6.0l / 4.2TDI with a torque of about 700Nm.

The max. torque of my RS6 is ~ 750 Nm and all systems are working without any problems. The updated kit of mtm has 568hp and a torque of ~ 770Nm - they also not change the gearbox.

I always do the service with the Audi mobility warranty - they would not give it if they fear of gearbox damages. I think generally that the lifetime of the parts mostly depends on the users behaviour and the qualification of your service partner. My RS 6 actually received the big service with new drive belt and a total check of the bi-turbo-system and besides my Audipartner is the winner of the world championship of the Audi Service award Twin Cup: http://www.gehlert.de/download/weltmeister.pdf

You see you can buy my RS6 in best condition. :rs6kiss:

Hi Wolfi,

sorry you are wrong, the gear box is the same old thing as in the 2.4 and not as in the A8. And the RS6 and RS6+ were limited in the torque to 560NM cause of this old gearbox. Now you have much more torque on it and it's just a wonder or your very perfect behaviour how you drive. Acceleration too early will kill it.
A mobility guarantee isn't in touch with that, it's just a guarantee that you have from one service to the next, Audi will help you when you have a problem and give you another car when yours wouldn't run again. Every car will get it, when it comes to the service.
As I already said, I would never buy a chipped RS6. And this RS6 is it with a guarantee ? You are a business man and in Germany every business man who wants to sell his car must give one year of guarantee. With which guarantee do you sell it? Cause it's really hard to get it as being no dealer.

Hello Babsi,

I don´t know your intentions and motivations but I can imagine.

However it may be - I believe in the statements of Audi engineers! And for sure if the gearbox only would take 560Nm it would be broken all day!

For warranty you can use also: http://www.cargarantie.com/index2.cfm

Hi Wolfi,

yes you don't know. I just see you trying to sell a German RS6 to somewhere else outside Germany, why that? OK everybody is allowed to sell his stuff whereever he want to. But why don't you try it in rs246.de or in rs-quattro.com? I can tell you, cause they will all tell you the same as I do, cause they all have a lot of knowledge about this type of cars, some of them are also tuners who killed the first gearbox by too much torque. And you can believe me Audi engineers don't like chiptuned cars especially chiptuned RS6. So I suppose you have asked a Audi mechanic at your Audi dealer and he has his own oppinion perhaps about it but he has no idea of the real problems with the gear box. You want to know them? Come to rs-quattro and ask for them.
And cargarantie ist shit, just for cardealers not private men and a RS6 ist normally not in it. You won't find a guarantee for it, which would pay a motor kill for 15000€ e.g. or a gearbox kill for 8000€ cause they all pay only small money about 2000€ a year or so and no to chiptuning in their AGB. So hopefully the person who buys your car is as smart as you to it otherwise you have to pay a lot of repaircosts afterwords in the first year. Some turbos, a new gearbox and so on everything on the German Gewährleistungsrecht or guarantee right and you can do nothing against it. So why don't you sell it to the Audi dealer? No problems and no fear?

Oh Babsi,

it seems that you must be real unstatisfied.

Fact is: The gearbox of the RS6 is for sure that of the A8 W12. You can read that for example in: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_RS6

There is mentioned for the gearbox:
Getriebe

The bolded and underlined sentence mean: The gearbox bases on the 5-gears-automaticgearbox of the Audi A8 W12.

The same you will hear from Audi in Ingoldstadt. Just call +49 (0)841 89-0 or asked your doctor.

For the tuned cars the gearbox is tweaked by a simple reprogramming of the gearbox computer. Thats it.

Dude, how wrong a comment can be...

thinking that 450 is reasonable and 550 is too much is pretty hilarious

It's both A LOT and both A LOT OF FUN

Wolfi...do you get your RS6 serviced in Basel? One of my friends, who works on an MTM RS6 among other supercars, is a master technician at the dealership there. Just curious...very nice car though! I wish we could have imported those into the States.

HEllo Babsi,
very interesting info is emerging here.
I would love to hear more what anyone has to say about the gearbox in the RS6. What is it based on and whether it got updated during the lifecycle (in 2004 maybe with new DVD navigation?)
How does the gearbox feel in everyday life?
I mean I have a 2002 A4 3.0 Quattro with 5 speeder and honestly that gearbox just kills the car - it makes it feel very lazy. SPort shifting is too aggressive on the other hand (for everyday driving) so I get constantly frustrated...
