Do you think with some upgrades the S5 can match the RS4 in HP?

Audi S5 354HP/325lb/tq
Audi RS4 420HP/318lb/tq

With Milltek Full Exhaust with dp's Milltek claims 28HP/30lb/tq on the S4
Giac Tuning Chip claims 28HP/25lb/tq on the S4
Carbonio Cold Air Intake claims 5HP/5lb/tq for the S4

Then a Clutch and flywheel upgrade

Audi S5 with upgrades 415/395
Stock RS4 420/318

Audi claims 0-60 in the RS4 4.8 seconds
Audi claims 0-60 in the S5 5.1 seconds

The S5 should be a contender with the M3 with these upgrades. What do you guys think.

I think the S5 have a weight problem, big time.

Hans.

Even the old V8 could be tuned over 100hp/l without forced induction. It involves tuning it for high revs. So the Torque curve is crap though, and not worth the trouble.

The S5 weighs 1630kg. The new e92 M3 with carbon fiber and all that weighs 1655kg.

Actually the M3 when using the same formula as Audi does weighs 1580Kgs.

Getting the S5 engine to the required HP needs a lot more than just software and an exhaust while keeping the engine characteristics to same. The RS4 engine might happen to revs a lot higher than the S4 but the way the drive below 6,000rpm is very similar, get the same power out of the S5 and bet you the thing won't be half as sweet to drive on a day to day basis.

Right you are, Leadie. Still, 50kg is not bad taking into account the Quattro drivetrain, and the lack of any special weight saving features like the M3 enjoys. So I don't agree with Iceman that the S5 has a weight problem.
I found a number of 1575kg for the FWD 2.7TDI A5.

An MTM supercharger would be a much better idea. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

If I was a BMW man which I'm not, I would be saying right about now that it's not that the M3 is any better weight wise than the S5 especially with all the weight saving materials used but it's where they've been used that counts. ;)

The CF roof may drop the C of G by a couple of millimeters but I believe it's use is pure cosmetic, nothing more.

The use of a supercharger wouldn't alter the character of the S5, it would just increase it everywhere. :hahahehe: But it a £10K option that when done will show up the short falls else where and you will need to spend another £5K just to cope with the tune-up.

Not likely. You would have to do the exact same things as Audi did to make the S5 engine to match the RS4 engine. But Audi does quote more performance for the S5 than it does for the current S4.
