the new rs6 is planning to be at dealers in few weeks. few rumors are saying that it would be 580 hp so whats your guess at the quater mile time?

i am saying 12.5 at 115 mph

Something around that for the quater mile, but it will probably be in the dealerships in a year.

Maybe in a dealers sometime in 2008 but not within a few weeks. I know the dealers are being shown or maybe have already seen the RS6 but to the best of my knowledge no dealer has driven the new RS6, in fact no-one outside of Quattro GmbH has driven the RS6.

I am hoping that they lighten it up a bit and that it will be able to get down the quarter in 12.25 or less

More then likely a 12 flat, maybe an very high 11, 11.7-11.9.

It all depends. Our C5 RS6 could do much better than 12.7-12.9 if the transmission had a "launch" mode. Like the BMW M cars with SMG.

Hopefully the new tranny will be either DSG or a SMG-like set-up and not a manu-matic like the current unit.

I've run a 12.9 with my stock RS6. If I chipped it and played with the launch technique a little more (without detroying the tranny) then I'm sure low 12's could be achieved with an APR (for instance) ECU and tranny chip at 530HP. With aftermarket headers, exhaust, diverters, etc. who knows? Maybe a 12 flat?

So, I think a 12 or high 11's is a good number on a 580HP V10. It all depends on how you get that power to the ground from a standing start and AWD. I won't be buying a C6 RS6 in a couple of years if it does not run a lot better if the HP number is correct. What's the point of a 4-door supercar then?

Also remember that the current Daimler AMG 65 series of cars are all running in the 11's, so Audi will leap ahead like the did before with the C5 RS6.

I'll go out on a limb and said 0-200km/h in 12.6s ;)

Leadfoot,

You are very optimistic.
Then 1/4 mile will be somewhere 11.6 sec @ 116 (11.6@116) mph.

Is that your own expectation or the insider's info?
In my opinion, RS6 will 0 -200 km/h in 13.5-14.0 sec.

In my opinion, RS6 will 0 -200 km/h in 13.5-14.0 sec.

It's hopefully a realistic expectation from what I have been told about the car based around the engine power + torque, the transmission improvements over the manual in the RS4 and the expected weight comparison to that of the RS4. A RS4 can on a grippy surface post 0-200km/h in 15.5s with a PTW of 260hp/ton or there abouts, the RS6 will have closer to 280~285hp/ton but it's torque per ton will be miles higher than the RS4 and we all know torque is the daddy in acceleration, factor in the quicker shift time from the automatic box and you can see how an optimistic time of mid to high twelves is possible for this speed. I also reckon a time of 4.2~4.4s is possible for 0-100km/h, 0-160km/h in 9.2s and the 0-250km/h in 22~23s. So basically I reckon it will match or possibly beat an M6 to the 60mph and 100mph mark but from then on will very slowly fall away, maybe 0.2~0.3s to the 125mph mark, a further 0.6s to 150mph. :)

The unknown quantity at present is the weight, if it's over 1900kgs then all of the above times will start to fall apart. :looking:

I read in Autoweek about the RS5 and they mentioned a double-clutch DSG 7 speed! I'm assuming they would put that in the RS6 as well?

Also read that BMW is ditching the troublesome SMG in the new M3 in favor of a 6 speed manual (Getrag) and a double clutch system to be released within 6 months of the manual. Seems like DSG would be the logical choice for new German models.

Can anyone confirm the transmittion setup in the RS6? With DSG and twin turbo V10 @ 580HP (540 Torque?) this thing will run like an Irishman from an AA meeting. I'd still say high 11's is possible. The AMG 63's and 65's are there already and BMW is in the low 12's with the M5 and SMG.

Wishful thinking unfortunately.

A car this desirable doesn't just show up at a dealership overnight.

try mid to high 12's on the 63 and m5's
65's are in high 11's on a good day

I reckon that the RS6 will post a time for the 1/4 mile of 12.2s @ 119mph. But as this is all guess work who really knows what the RS6 will achieve on any particular day. ;)

Think about it. If it is a Turbo car a chip should achieve 70HP, Downpipes full Exhaust another 25HP and Cold Air intake another 7HP and maybe better intercoolers will help. 682HP + All Wheel Dive + DSG= 11.2 @ 140 MPH. Maybe im just a little crazy. :)
