So, if you can, please post a pic' or pic's and type what you have...

I'm proud to be the first to respond!

I've got a silver/black C6 S6 that I love more every time I drive it. No pics with me but will try to remedy that soon. No mods planned other than perhaps ordering the MadAudi carbon fiber rear valence and perhaps the grill filler for no front plate.

I know there are at least a couple of others on here because they have responded in other threads. Perhaps no we can get an S6 smilie added to the list. :)

Thanks for starting this thread to. I love the c6 s6.
I hope somebody can post some pictures of their car.
That burgandy S6 sounds very very nice. I hope you can get pictures on here as soon as you get it.
I'm likely to be ordering a C6 RS6 so i'm interested in the S6 too.
I have been out in one, got to 145mph before i chickened out.

I've had mine since September(first one delivered in Colorado), and I love it. Phantom black/black, tech package, cold weather, sunshades, solar roof, carbon fiber trim, 15% carbon fiber tint. I have 12,000 miles on it and its been great. I live 8400 feet, and with snow tires the car did fine this winter. I am #2 on my dealerships RS6 order list, so am really looking forward to the C6 RS6. hopefully it comes to the US! My only problem with my S6 is that it was made in Aug '06, so there is no AMI available or a retro fit. But other than that, great car...

The question to S6C6 owners:
Unfortunately I could't order S6 with 19" weels. In Russia I can order the car with 18" wheels only but I can order 19" wheels separately via Audi spare parts department and use 18" in winter. As to me 19" is much and much nicer but all I'm afraid is 35th profile of 265/35 R19 tires... What do you think? Should I change the wheels? And second question - what kind of tires do you use with 19" wheels? Conti, Yoka, Micheline?

ott
May 24th, 2007, 07:27
I'm running 19" 35 profile summer tyres on RS6 and to be honest they are too stiff for family/limo type of car but ok for sports car. So it's up to you, what you are ready to accept. Road conditions here are pretty similar to yours I suppose.

a couple of interior shots..the car is phantom black/black with carbon fiber inlays. The "gansta" tint is 15% carbon fiber tint. There is a full hood clear bra on it as well. As far as the ride with 19's, it seems fine to me. I had a '05 A6 4.2 S-line with the 18's before this, and the ride seems similar to me.....also, the Audi Sport valve covers make it go faster......and congrats Sanjuro, its a fine automobile...

As far as I know the sales aren't that bad - at least in Japan the sales numbers look steady. They are probably close to competing with the S8 though and in terms of production I am sure that gets first Priority. S8 I tend to think would be a more popular thing than S6 as there's a bit more to the car with Active Suspension, ASF and the slightly better tune: but for me it doesn't fit in the driveway...

Both are very good things though.

Plus the really patient ones may be waiting for the RS6.

+44 Dave
June 12th, 2007, 22:12
I agree, people always dismiss it because the M5 and E63 are much fast in a straight line but the S6 isnt really a direct competitor to these cars, thats more the RS6 territory.
The S6 is incredibly understated and that why i love it. As well as being a great all round family sedan and avant, it can provide thrills and spills and high performance.
I love the low LED's also and hope so much these appear on the C6 RS6...

By the way keep your C6 S6 pictures coming i'm always keen to see them !!!

And i agree the S6's power is easily enough for most people ! That 5.2 is a beast !

AndyBG
June 13th, 2007, 11:25
S6 is often compared with M5 and E 63, but, its more 550 i and E 500 teritory, and there, S6 is ''dictator'' !!!

They can't see it on the road !

So far, we counted six cars on the board, I would like to see them more !

Charles DLF
June 13th, 2007, 12:11
Not so sure it is E500 competitor, isn't the 4.2 A6 the direct competitor. Suspension are much stiffer, engine is a V10, which makes a big difference in exclusivity, sportier sound exhaust, sportier brakes, sportier interior, i think the S6 is in a class of its own, not saying its a unique peace, just has no real competitor... Not a BMW 550, nor a BMW M5...

Toto89
June 13th, 2007, 15:10
I agree with Andy that it has to be compared with E500 and 550i because S6 don't use so many race technologies like E63 and M5 (Audi leave this to RS6). Although it's a V10 but it doesn't makes many differences, it is 5204ccm, E500 is 5500ccm and 550i is 4800ccm. With 4.2, it's not a really fair play, just imagine, Merc has a 1300ccm 'bigger' engine, it has still 300ccm advance to S6. So the comparing between S6 and E500/550i is fair i think.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/luxury/sedan/112_0702_luxury_sports_sedan_comparison/results.html
Motor Trend thought it fit with M5/E63

It's a tough car to place as it's really quick but it's the real- daily driver of the car - I live in an overcrowded city and it's a great thing to drive, but I can get out of town on the windy roads and it's a blast.

For sure it's not the hard edge thing the RS4/M5 sort of market but I think the customers are probably similar as both E63 and M5 appear as daily drivers. And for the people paying the money for them a couple of tenths may not be as important as it being nice to drive every day, with no stress and no concerns for the weather.

S6driver
June 14th, 2007, 16:34
I don't think the S6 competes with the M5 and E63. The straight line performance isn't really that close and the price isn't that close either. My S6 fully optioned out was almost 81K. The M fully optioned is like 96-97K. As is the E63. Now, the fact that the S6 can hang with the other two is a testament to how great a car the S is. But really, the Mk2 RS6 will be the direct competition for the M and the E63, as far as performance and price. IMHO, the next RS6, fully loaded is going to be over 100K. and its going to be a tad faster than the M and the AMG. Also separating the M and the AMG from the S, is that the S6 is produced by Audi, not Quattro GmbH. I still LOVE my C6 S6 and am very glad to have a RS6 production slot(if it comes to the US). I had a ML63 AMG from March to May, and I got rid of it because it was unbelievably unreliable. Many things went wrong within 2000 miles. Not what you hope for with a 94K car. The engine is great....when it works.....but screw MB...

It is a great car. Full size sedan but it behaves a lot like a smaller car. The engine at higher RPM sounds amazing, and the LEDs get a lot of looks. The cabin is top notch. I bought a set of snow tires and the car was a blast to drive this past winter. If you can't have a sports car and a daily driver, it is the best you're going to get in one. I test drove an M5 and an E63 AMG before buying the S6. The E63 is one fast car, but the S6 handles better and is cheaper to boot. The M5 will get more looks and may be more fun to drive in the dry, but come wet or snow and the S6 blows it away. The S6 is cheaper than the M5 too.

Here are pictures from when I first picked her up. Also in some of the shots is a 2005 S4 Cab and a 2003 all-road. Both of those cars are gone now.

Car is fantastic and looking like new, to bad you have to ''divorce'' it.

I have a new 2007 S6 in silver. I've had it since October 2006 and it is an amazing car. Ebony interior with full leather package, solar sunroof, technology package. I do not like carbon trim (except on the R8), so I have the Birch piano finish which is beautiful in the S6. I have about 5600 miles on it as it is not my daily driver. My A3 2.0T is. Absolutely flawless. I have seen quite a few S6s in my area so far. Always an attention getter especially at car washes. I hope to have pics soon.

So, official no. 8... ! :D

Welcome to you to !

Lookin forward to your pic's, specialy inside pic's...

One question for you...

Where would you rate new S6, in line with (BMW M5 and MB E 63) or (BMW 550 i and MB E 500) ?

Audiphile
June 17th, 2007, 05:11
:race: I am not sure how to answer that question, but for me anyway, I would rate the S6 easily above the other two. The M5, though more horsepower, hasn't proven to be necessarily faster and definitely not an over all better package than the S6. I find the appearance of the M5 not to my liking (to racerboy and immature) and the interior is hideous and cheap for such an expensive car. The S6 strikes me more as a refined sports sedan for adults. As for the MB, I like it, but I want more than straight-line speed. Not into pure muscle cars. I enjoy my apexes and curves, and I want a sports sedan that can "handle" and not get all twisted around itself when its hits an apex. I've had the pleasure and privilege of driving an RS4 and S6 on the famed Nurburgring this past March as part of an Audi Owner experience event as part of my European vacation. After that experience, I love my S6 even more not only for its handling, speed, and loads of pleasure, but because of my total confidence in terms of safety and build quality.

However, as a caveat, nothing replaces learning to drive properly and safely through track schools and driving experiences on track through various schools and through Audi experiences. Unfortunately, many jackasses buy these type of cars and have no clue on how to actually drive them. NO car, no matter how good, can compensate for lame and unexperienced, uneducated drivers - just look at all those Enzos crashed. So, please always take advanced courses in driving before purchasing any of these or the RS4, R8, etc.:race:

Sorry I did not post on this thread ealier. Thank you Andy for starting it.

We bought our new S6 at the end of January 2007 and have no complaints. It's a thoroughly wonderful car. Not as visceral as my old RS6 but much more refined. Where it really thrives is on long highway drives and big sweepers. It handles really well for a big sedan, too, but it's not a car I'd choose for a weekend of canyon carving in the local mountains. Leave that to a sports car. Power is linear and bottomless, steering is precise, and interior can't be beat for comfort and looks.

Ours is silver, with black interior, carbon fiber, warm weather package, etc. As for your question about where it compares in the BMW and MB ranges, I'd say in between. Those cars are not balanced IMHO, since they have different priorities and tradeoff either handling for power (in the case of MB) or all-around convenience/value for image (BMW). With the Audi S6, the emphasis is really different: the perfect balance between comfort, speed, handling, and understated elegance in a large mid-size sedan. If anything, I'm surprised how much attention the S6 gets when we drive it. Almost as much as my RS6 got. Maybe it's the LED lights.

Wow! Nicely done. It's great to see someone take the time to make the car so distinctive. Looks good.

How long did it take for Audi to handle the special order?

Thank you! :bye:
Actually it is a standart order but with exclusive body (Dark Burgundy) and interior (Red) colours from Quattro GmbH (you can see "exclusive" shields on the doors). Unfortunately there is no way to order 19" wheels to Russia but I can order them through spare parts department with no problem and use 18" in winter.

When ordering I was warned that the chosen body and interior colours from the Quattro GmbH will add extra 5 weeks to its production, but eventually the car was made quite fast. I placed the order in March and got the car at the end of June.

driving an S6 after a 2005 S4.
The S4 is smaller, less weight, manual transmission, nicer sound. Seems faster, but I suppose it isnt.
The S6 is ment to be a luxury autobahn traveller, and that it is. Its not ment to take on the M5, mercedes AMG's. It will certainly do a nice job gving most cars a hard time. But overtaking the M5 or a 55 AMG, i guess not. Its too heavy and lacks some HP for that.
The car is superious in every aspect, exterior, finish, MMI, easy to drive, floor it and it will stop only when the limiter comes in at 250 kmh. The seats are better then those of the S4. The led daylight running lights means other drivers will clear the road for you easier, they see the DRL's in their mirror coming. ( that's in Europe, Left lane driving is only for overtaking, after that you move back to the right lane. ) The car makes more noise on the outside, with the DRL on people turn their heads and wonder what car that might be.
The M5 has never been an option, first the Audi 4WD in driving safety is unbeaten, and 4WD here means almost always 100 % grip, under all or almost all, or critical conditions. Then i like the A6 look, and the only minor differences the S6 has. The M5 stnds out too much. The high-revving engine of the M5 in my opinion makes it more a racing-car, i was looking for a more then fast family-car. The M5 does 0-200 kmh under 15 secs, the S6 does it in 19 secs. Says enough.
For me the S6 is a superb car in many aspects.
