Quick question guys : is it possible to have an engine management problem at dealer's pre-delivery stage?

I had a phone call saying my delivery is not ready coz there is some engine management problem and the warning light is on???? Anyone heard of this before? Thanks.

I wouldnt worry about it. My engine woraning light has been coming on and off for 2 months and after a number of part changes now they are giving me the latest version of the engine management software.

No big deal - relax ;)

When my car was ready to be handed over - suddenly an EPC indicator has come on. I was told that it was some engine maintanance indicator (or something). I waited another 30 mins and the car was ready. What happened was that the car was still in trasportation mode. The machanics flashed some ROM again and the car was ready to go. May be this is a case.

Do not worry!!!I had the same problem and solved in 30 minutes.Factory send correct software codes and everything ok from then.Best for you now because the car does not rev above 3000 rpm so the engine is protected from curious customers who want to hear the car revving etc....Perhaps it is from factory in this condition for extra protection and against thieves during transportation. Is one of the explanations i received!

Thanks guys for your reassuring. It was just so frustrating waiting for the car nearly six months and finally, it left the dealership to go to the broker for final inspection then hand it over to me...not so coz the broker found the problem and something else with the emission control. Then the car had to go back to the dealer on the truck for remedy. Hopefully like you all said, it won't take long to get it all sorted out again. You would think P.D would have had everything checked and ready to go.

Another question: is it normal for the car to have 70kms or so on the odometer by the time it get delivered to me??? seem very high, someone may have taken it out for joy drive@!!@!!@#!

Pray for me guys...I want this beast in my possession!

Well, I hope it's the guys from Ingolstadt and not some some mechanic apprentices at the dealership going on a joy ride! :nono:

Mine had 100km. I've been told that the cars were driven pretty hard on the track before they ship. That would also be inline with the hard break-in that many people are recommending. So the engine is ready on delivery but we are not

Thanks again guys. It's good to know I'm not alone. I've bought several new cars before but the most I've seen on the odo is 30kms on delivery.

It's not a good feeling that you've worked hard to enjoy a nice car like the RS4 and someone else is already had the first go before you did!...perhaps it's the long wait that has given me paranoia! :lovl:

Well, hopefully I can give you all good news tomorrow.

Cheers,

I agree. When i was in Neckarsulm i saw a convoy of A8 with white big stickers on them cruising on 100-120 km/h and drivers had laptops inside and were checking brakes, steerings etc.....After that test about 40 km they gave the cars to train for customers worldwide.

if you guys saw the imbred morons that work in the service dept of most car dealerships in Sydney you would understand OZRS4's concerns.

Glad to report the car is now in my possession. It ended up having all new 8 spark plugs and coil replaced despite having PD completed the day before.

And it had 93kms on the odo when I took delivery. I was reassured it is normal and that noone would have dared to treat the car without utmost care!!!! Well, what can I do but just be happy coz it's finally mine.

Thx all for your input. Much appreciated.
