View Full Version : Anyone know if B7 RS4 wheels will fit?

There was a thread on this a while back, but the author decided on Hartmann replicas (19x8 ET30). OEM seven spoke rims on the RS4 are 19x9 but reportedly have offset ET29. This means they will stick out 6mm more than RS6 19x9 OEM wheels (and have 6mm more clearance on the inside).

Anyone tried this out? Interestingly, I think the OEM wheels are cheaper than Hartmann.

Thx.

Try this link at Audi World

ET 29 would be perfect for the RS6 assuming you continue to run 255 width tires. There can be clearance issues with the front suspension when running an ET35 wheel. I am also not sure the RS4 wheel is 9 inches wide. I thought it was 8.5.

Thanks...I hadn't come across that thread in my Audiworld search...#@%&? search engines!

Nine inch width was from info posted to the RS4 forum on Audiworld...would need to check with Audi for sure, but now also need to think about weight limits.

It's only my opinion, but this concern over the difference in weight is unfounded. Wheel loads come from impacts and not from car weight. The loads imparted from a 1 g corner or from maximum braking are nothing compared to the stress put on a wheel during a pot hole encounter. The forces generated are a function of shock damping values and worst case the stiffness of the chassis when the suspension bottoms out. Not having high enough tire pressures probably contributes to more wheel failures than any other factor. Weight is not a significant contributor in this case.

BTW, where did this urban legend about wheels not being rated for the cars' weight begin? I suspect it's an off-shoot of the XL load rating on the tires. Tire loads ARE a function of car weight. Let's put an end to the wheel load rating myth once and for all.

Just my 2 cents worth

The wheels fit fine and look great. They are 19x9 et29. I have had no issues with the wheels. I know there are others out there running them as well.

Can you get rep's of those? Or maybe 18x8.5's?

I wholeheartedly agree with your arguments that static weight will not be a major issue. I can't imagine that a few hunded pounds curb weight (or less in the case of the US spec RS4) could possibly make a difference. If it does, I'll just be sure not to haul around 3 of my 250 pound friends at once (and their luggage).

BTW thanks for the extra pic...those look awesome! Can I ask how much they cost you?

Reps are available through Hartmann, but only in 19x8 ET30:

I think they would be ok too, but given a choice, I'd rather have 9" width.

I think it was $2200 shipped.

That was for wheels and tires. You can get wheels from audi for around $375 each. Atleast that is my cost with discount.

the standard oem 19's are et35. moving the wheels further outboard will widen the track, but place more stress on bearings.

The stock 18s are et30. So effectively, there is no difference between the RS4 and a factory original RS6 wheel offset.

PS I'd still like to hear from the originator of the wheel load issue. After looking for wheels for what seems like forever, the RS4 wheels apear to be an excellent choice with the exception of weight.
