Ever sinse I bought the wife her GTi I have always wonder which is the quicker. Lots here think the GTi is and I must admit that quite a few magazine reports back this up too.

Here is a video I have found on the web that seems to back this up as well.

Does anyone know is GTIs are dynoing more than factory spec or is it a case the R32 isn't meeting factory spec?

In Greece all stock Gti are dynoed 200 ps on wheels!!!The TT 206-210 on wheels with the same engine.R 32 are 210 -215 on wheels but heavier.

KK265,

Well that explains it, after the traction problems for the GTi it will start to walk away slowly from the R32. Sweet.

N/A engines with same power with turbo engines have biggest v-max.Make a search on same cars.R 32 shows 270 km/h on speedo.

Yeah I know but in acceleration the turbo will win because of the extra torque. The most I have heard a GTi doing is 250km/h on the clock.

some dinoed GTI have released more than 200hp. My wife car is a GTI DSG (4 months old) and I have to say that this car is amaizing. Very pleasent to drive and very quick. To compare it to my former TT V6 DSG roadster well the sound and the driving pleasure will remain TT property but on the perf side well tuff to say....

As mentionned the R32 is very heavy. Also taking into consideration that the real hp from this 3.2 V6 is more 240 than real 250hp well all these factors are in favor of the GTI.

The R32 is still a good car anyway.

if you need only straightline acclerations, GTi might be lighter and faster. But you can always consider to put a pair of turbo on the R32 like this http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3108521

This thing is def. in another catagory other than GTi FWD drive. The costs to mod a R32 like this you may buy another GTi, but the beast can eat most of "supercars' for lunch.
