After watching a few videos of the new E92 335i racing I was wondering how it would fair against the E43 M3 in a rolling start race.

I reckon it would be too close to call.:brag:

Now after watching these videos, the S5 will hae to be something very special to win.

Yikes!, those 335s are fast!. By watching those videos I would say that the chances of an S5 spanking a 335i or a E92 M3 are...very, very few. I would still go for the S5 over the 335i, but not over a E46 M3.

As I recall the 335 and the old M3 has the same times from 0-100 - much as the E39 M5 and the new E60 545. So I would think it was up to the driver

Well I have already put my name down for a S5 in 2008, but I would choose the 335i over the M3, less extreme, more luxury and comfort and in standard form just as quicker on the track.

No doubt it will be close between the two as my S4 has beaten all the M3s I have raced and the S5 is 0.5s quicker to 60mph which should means at least a second plus to 100mph. Either way I still think the S5 will be the quicker on any given road and quite possibly on the track as well what with the new chassis set-up.

But these videos do make you think.

The 335i in used in the last movie against the M3 is slightly tuned, so i've heard.

I saw that on the other tread. I don't know but all the signs are that it will be a very close race and I reckon over the 100mph mark the 335i with it's turbo power will put even better than the M3.

I take it you saw the one with the Z4 M coupe, man can those things fly. I have drove the brother-in-law's one but only when new so didn't open it up fully, too twitchy on a back road but you could tell the thing was fly.

I've heard the opposite. That the M3 will walk away in higher speeds... :vhmmm:

Ruegard,

Well either way the 335i is a serious piece of kit and rival to the new S5.

It sure is! With a chip mounted, it will be seriously fast! In higher speeds I think it'll be quicker than the S5 because of the RWD. But from standing starts and when the road gets twisty.. we all know what'll happen! :thumb:

There no chance for speed without power and there no chance for power without control. :dig:

that suprising 335 is as fast than a m3 considering that the m3 is more powerfull and
less weight but the 335 have more torque with the twin turbo engine but now the real test would be to put them on a track
