View Full Version : RS6 engine heat. I want to ventilate!

I am thinking of installing some functional hood vents on the beast. It is too hot here in Texas anyway, but the heat from under the hood making its way into the cabin is unacceptable.

I'd love to drive without the AC on when it's mild, but the car has a perpetual heater unless it is below 45 outside! Does anyone have experience with this idea or sources to view some options? Thanks.

MTM has done those. They are more beautifull when installed underneath rather than on top like the RS6 Clubsport. And they are really really efficient.
You can also ask a body shop to do the "Champion Race RS6 like" hood vents.

The mtm vents are close to what I was thinking, but I don't want three, just the left and right. Even thinking black rather than matching Avus.

I've been considering hood vents for a while. Could someone post pix of the MTM vents being discussed? My only reference is a Florida RS6 modified with MTM products by Hoppen Motorsport. I admire both (MTM and Hoppen), but frankly I thought the hood treatment on the car here looked pretty ugly. I would welcome its cooling but not its appearance. From what I've seen I prefer two rear-facing hood vents, similar to what appeared on the RS6 racer in the ALMS series a couple of years ago.

Anyone got pix of either or both?

Also: I wonder how the engine compartment would be affected by moisture intrusion through ANY vents, from when the car is parked outside during rain. Could this be harmful?
