 Hi all,

Can I have any ideas and opinions regarding a blown turbo in a A6 2.7 T?

I seem to get conflicting advice depending on who I ask.
If only one turbo has gone, do I need to replace the pair? I'm on a very tight budget.

I am told replacing the turbos is a engine out job? Is this the case and if so anybody got any idea / experience of the costs?

Lastly, any good places to source the Turbo or get it fitted?

Many thanks in advance for any ideas, Stuart

If the miles are low, the 'other' turbo should be fine, but if you have high miles on the car, I'd get the pair replaced (make sure the installer warrantees the pair, new parts fail also...)

By the way, from my experience the Audi mechanics have much experience pulling engines and replacing them....dispite the DRC issues, they are good mechanics.

it is an engine-out job. factor a day for this and another for the re-assembly. as stated, turbos are replaced in pairs, unless they are pretty unused. different boost levels is the reason.

Replace the pair.

If you are out of warranty, perhaps its a good time to upgrade the turbos, engine will already be out and upgrades arent that much more expensive then stock. (just my opinion).

BTW, was it the right side(passenger's) turbo?

Good Luck with the repair!
