Does anyone have or can tell me where I can source the standard transmission control unit chip or firmware?
I believe the S8 2002-2005 uses the same firmware
Any info would be greatly appreciated

the s8 was discontinued in '03. i doubt that the firmware is the same, as the gearbox isn't...
firmware is a download for the dealer from audi ag. they will update new firmware under certain conditions to do with known faults....

You can't not from Audi. The manual was discontinued in 02 for the world in the S8 and S6. You will have to go to a chip tuner and pay out the nose for them to remove the code for the Auto. MTM charges 20,000 euro for a complete conversion and will not relase just the code.
