if you are doing a chip exhaust and intake which will give about 340 hp i wouldnt be concerned, but if you start changing turbos and have an output of 450 hp that transmission wouldn't last more than a week. If you are really considering tuning it to 400+ hp you can always get a RS6 transmission which i think will bolt on directly and hold up to 450 hp for about 2200 USD or 1500 Euro

By the time you mod the A6 (ecu, turbos, exhaust, tranny), you might be better off for the price just buying a good used RS6 with an extended warranty and selling the stock A6. I know mods are fun -- I've done them on some of my other cars :mech: (though NOT on my RS6), but there is only so much you can achieve with an A6 as your starting point and it may not be worth the hassle, cost, maintenance risk, and value impairment.

Among the lessons I've learned from mods is that it is hard to know when to stop, and to try to do things in proportion so that all the systems on the car are elevated to the same level together. When some parts of the car (suspension, motor, exhaust, ECU, for instance) significantly "outperform" the rest of the mechanicals, things break or just don't feel right.

My 2 cents.

Sorry the RS6 tip is NOT a bolt on for the 2.7T.

The RS6 is 4.2 based and is not the same as the 2.7t

There are a few places in the USA that modify the stock Tip tranny to handle more power.

If you are just getting a chip though the stock Tip tranny will be fine, just be sure to change the tranny oil and filter
