I hope the RS5 will have a 5.2 V10 FSI engine with ± 480 hp.
I still don't like the Audi 4.2 V8 soundwise.
And if it look something like this it will be great.

Alas with the swish it now has down the flank I doubt it. I will hold judgement until it's released and can see it for myself. As for what engine it will have, if it's true that the new chassis is to be used on every new Audi from now on A3 and up, excluding the Q7 then it definitely can accept the v10 or w12 engines as these will be in use on A6/8 model, so your wish may indeed come true.

Have you ever driven the new S6 or S8 with the 5.2 V10?I did and i can tell you that it's sound is stunning. Just after the V10's I had a ride in the V8 RS4 but although it was faster, the joy was a bit better for me in the S6 because of the sounds...

I also think that the next generation RS4/5 will have the naturally aspirated V10, hopefully with Audi Valvelift and other goodies and aroudn 500 hp of course. That would punk the M3 badly.

V8 sounds good from 1000 rpm ...V10 sounds good above 6000 rpm! And I must say, the S6-sound is more calibrated into comfort than sport. However ...a Gallardo or a Carrera GT is a different story ...but in that case I still take the sound of 360CS with a V8! But hey ...that's just me :music:

There are two kind's of V8 engine's Flatplane and Crossplane.
The flatplane V8 (Ferrari) sounds awesome.
But a the Crossplane V8 (Audi, Chevrolet, Mercedes, and so on) don't.
A Lamborghini V10 with a tubi style exhaust sounds also awesome.

I disagree, the other V8s that you listed sound pretty good as well. The RS4 sounds very nice IMO.

Most normal (Crossplane) V8 engine don't sound as well as a V10, just on the same way as a in-line 4 doesn't sound as good as a V6. The V10 is an unusual noise which most of us are unfamiliar with and because of this we prefer it, who likes a diesel sound but the V10TDi in the VW has a something which you can kind a like. But as Hans rightly points out the Ferrari V8s are something special especially when it comes to noise but as I said earlier the more cylinders the better the sound and the V12 is even better.:D

Yeah, that is true. All the cars need new exhaust :)
