How big and haevy is a 6.0 W12 compare to a 4.2 V8.
Are they almost the same size.
Will the W12 fit in the S4/RS4 engine bay. ???

Hello Hans,

yes, the W12 would fit the A4 chassis with minor modifications. The W12 6.0 diameters are 690mmx513mm, almost the same as the 4.2 V8. Weight is also most like similar, 239kg.

Nice, maybe i will do a A4/S4 W12 6.0 litre W12 with 476 hp / 615 Nm Quattro project.

Sounds like a interesting challenge. Even there are the same size, cooling is not the same story...

As Frederic rightly says, there is a heat difference between the two engines. I reckon an open engine bay is the answer, aka Bugatti Veyron.:hihi:

Let's go for twin turbo W12 then ! ! ! !

Cheers,
Frederic

If i go for a Bi-turbo W12 i will put it in the back of a new TT. :D
But i think it cost less by putting a chipped W12 (±476 hp) in a A4 then tune a 4.2 V8 to that hp.
And if you open the bonnet a W12 will look much better then a V8 :D.

It's very strange to hear that W12 is almost as "small" as 4.2 V8 and not weight more than it!! I thought it is a "terrible monster" and will never fit to a car which is smaller than A8.So it is even smaller and lighter than V10s??

btw. nice idea Hans! Good luck!

I always thought the W12 wasn't a very sporty engine, no doubt powerful and with plenty of torque, but doesn't it have a lazy power delivery compared to the V8 or V10 regards. And is this not the reason why the S8 uses the V10 and not the W12.

Though one thing's for sure, it would be the perfect sleeper.:hahahehe:
