Evidently Audi stoped R&D on the 2.5 litre R5T engine if rumours are true.
The 2.5 litre R5T engine is not viable for use in the A3 and TT only.
For the rest of the Audi range there is evidently a 3.2 litre V6 FSI Valve-lift Bi-turbo engine in development with 360-400 hp.
If rumour showing to be true it will see the day of light in the new S4 B8.
There are also indications that the next generation A3 can be A4 B8 based.

Darn my hopes for the 5-cylinder returning goes up in smoke. But the return of a bi-turbo V6 would be nice!

there are reports that an audi spokesman mentioned a V8 350 hp FSI for the next A5/S5. not specifically which.

i wonder if they'll place the A4 to have the NA 3.2 VL roadjet engine and the FSI V8 with 350 hp and give the S5 the TT version of the 3.2 engine that you speak of.....though it seems it might confuse buyers because they usually associate a more expensive model with more cylinders, not less, regardless of the type of aspiration.

geneva is only one month away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thankfully, because NAIAS SUCKED

I personally am a fan of turbo cars, but only if lag is kept to a minimum. If the next S4/5 are indeed Bi-turboed/Twin-turboed which ever, then hopefully it will be lighter than the current 4.2Lv8 which is an amazing engine and in the RS4 is more than just amazing, it is one of the best ever v8 engine and hopefully it will have Audi's trademark flat torque curve running from 1500rpm to 6000rpm. I would settle for 380bhp if the torque was in the region of 350~380ft/lbs.

That power and torque I believe would be enough to work with the next M3 on out right acceleration and hammer it in in-gear acceleration.
