I've searched around but cant find part #'s. Was this soley a factory option or can trim pieces be ordered? Or maybe just a better idea to have trim pieces painted?

-Thanks

My service/parts dept. were unable to find any info. I sent an email to AoA, see if they reply.

I bought my RS6 new and never heard of a black optics package. Maybe it's not offered in the US? Maybe aftermarket tuners offer it?

Available options I recall when ordering are carbon fiber interior trim, sound enhancing exhaust, solar sunroof package, and a couple of others -- but black optics was not among them. This is the first I've heard of it and I can only guess what it means or includes.

Do you mean tinted/darkened windows or smoked taillights or something else...

Window tint is available almost everywhere in the after market, get it professionally installed and to local regulations

Smoked taillights are aftermarket from Hella (legal in some US states, probably not all)

Black optics package was available in Europe.
Trim around the windows were black, trim around the front grills were black as well. Can't remember if there was much else to it though.

Black Optics option was NOT available in US therefore your service/parts department most likely would not know the part # and will not be able to order.

Package replaces all chrome (except 4 rings) with black alu.

Exactly!

AoA's response

"Thank you for contacting Audi of America.

The RS6 trim you described seems to be that of a version which, to the
best of our knowledge, was available only in Europe and was indeed a
factory option, not a kit. We have forwarded your inquiry to the
appropriate division and have also inquired about the existence of a
kit, but without finding one to date. We will certainly let you know
immediately should we receive any further information.

Again, thank you for writing."

I think that looks fantastic, I think it would also look nice with the Daytona Gray. I may just get an estimate to replicate it. Gives it a more sporty appearance, IMO.

This paint should solve your problem and your cheapest way out.

It is also very easy to apply.

black exhaust was stock on sound enhanced system (and on +), standard was chrome ... and yes, it looks very good on Daytona Gray :D

Beautiful car!

I just got my car back from its 35K service. I had a couple of warranty issues taken care of at the same time, one of which was the front grill emblem was missing when I bought the car. So when they went to place the new emblem on, they said they had to replace the whole front grill for fitment issues. Anyway, now the new top front grill trim (the silver look) doesnt match the headlight and lower grill trim (silver) . It wasnt painted (?). So they recognize that it doesnt match and offer to make it right. So since I am going to go with the matte black anyway, they will pay part. Now to get the estimate and find the time to do it.

Does any body know a paint code for that color black? would it be the same as the "B" pillar black?

thanks

I have the front grills painted and rear trunk trim painted as well. I left the window trim and the mirrors alone. it looks great.

Got it back today. I am very pleased with it! :rs6kiss: I'm not sure of the paint code but it matches the existing flat black of the B pillar, they gave me touch up paint (part # L-0Y9-B02) The total bill was just under 1000. I didnt shop the price around because I had a credit with the dealership that I wanted to use. I believe most of the expense was in removing all the pieces for painting, apparently the doors needed to be disassembled to get the lower trim:rolleyes:
Anyway, I'll take more pics later.

Any one know the price of the black optic kit?

Is it a DIY deal?

I'd love to do the window trim and grill trim in black. I assume any competent body shop can do it in a few hours. Anyone have a specific paint recommendation?
