Hey I'm back online (my PC was down for a little while )
Any way I brought with me some pics of what I assume is going to be the next BMW M3 And my god it's ugly but for those of you who might like it here are some pics:

it's a 3 series with a larger engine in it I'm not sure what engine...

I'm more curious as to how they are going to find a harmonious solution to that massive bulge on the hood. Its crazy from side profile. Here are some better pics, I think it will look OK when its out:

Hey!

Those you posted are very old and have been on the internet for a long time. The ones that Cale posted are much newer and shows pretty good how the new M3 will look like, atleast I think so. Ofcourse it will be different from those pics, but still thats not to far away if the guys at m3post are right.

Will it look better than this? Not so sure, but chances are it will drive amazingly well.

No Cale24 it doesn't look better than this
You are shoing an old BMW M3 and that is a good looking car I was talking about this:

A new BMW 3 series and as you can see it is ugly

LamboM, I was making a point about how the old E46 M3 coupe looked so good, meaning the new one will have to look pretty special to beat it. And by the way, that last pic of yours shows a regular E90 saloon, not a coupe. To clarify, here is what the new M3 will probably look like:

I know it's the normal saloon that's why I wrote

A new BMW 3 series and as you can see it is ugly
And I don't think that the new M3 is even close to half of what the old M3 looks
the new one is just so ugly

There are some nearly undisguised pics of the E90 M3 that are not CG or are the Sport Model 335 coupe. Wrong section too. :)

I am at a lost why the next M3 would need to have a bonnet bulge, a Vee engine will sit lower than a straight six, unless it the VANOS system that needs the extra head room.

I am under the impression that the white 3series coupe in this picture are not the M3 but the M-Sport version of the standard model, the bulge and the exhaust might be a bluff or it is indeed the M3 but not with the right bodykit.

Past models have always been beefy in the looks department and for this one to change this, especially when the RS4 has turned up the wick to eleven with it's looks would be very out of character.

sure it dosent look great on the pictures you guys have posted here but i am not gonna say anything until i see it on the road tearing off that asfalt in the bends and straights!

i think that the E30 M3 is the greatest M3 ever... yes it only has 190bhp, BUT it looks and performs awsome! it still beats some state of the art motorcars! :)

I couldn't agree more and it's price reflects this today when compared to the later models. But you have to remember that it was a road-legal version of the race model. It was with the engine in the Mac F1 BMW's finest hour.

:lovl: Those days are long gone. Long live Audi.:dig:

when I first saw pictures of the new 3 series coupé, I had pretty much the same opinion of everyone else on the board: "ugly car!"
but recently I saw one in real life with big wheels mounted and I must say, it looks A LOT better irl, in fact I'd say it even looks pretty :) the M3 probably is going to set the new standard too I'm afraid, the RS4 will have some tough competition :)

I agree Jonas, the new coupe already looks so wide from the front, approaching head-on, really mean. The M3 is almost certain to look good.

Leadfoot, that bonnet bulge is a mystery to me too! What will the production car look like I wonder...

I hope that the designer that will design the next M3 won't be the same one who design the M5
And BTW I also have seen a 3 series coupé in real life infact as we speak there is
one parked outside my house right now it's a black one and I'm still left
with my opinion:
My God It's Ugly

Cale24

I think its neither ugly nor beautiful, just OK. I'm just thankful it has no crazy bootlid/ shutlines lights, etc and I still reckon the M3 will look good. I just can't believe how long its taking BMW to release it - Sept 07 official launch!

By the way, here is the sport kit for the coupe:

Well by the looks of it, I was right when I said the white one in the pictures posted earlier were indeed the M/Sport version of the 3series Coupe and not the M3. By the way, the front looks quite good ....., but the back is plain ugly.

I am pleased that BMW are taking so long to get the M3 released, it means that it will have less time on the top (that is if it will be able to better the RS4) before the S5 or RS5 are launched. Or is the reason it is taking so long because it's not performing as expected and it's needing enough more power to better the amazing RS4.:rotflmao: Either way, I just glad.

Is this an ugly rear end? I'm not so sure!

LamboM
December 27th, 2006, 09:41
Well it's not beautifyl that's for sure it is a little too fat and big I don't really like it..
Though it look better than the M5 or 6 so it is an improvement

Leadfoot
December 27th, 2006, 10:16
I still prefer the standard 3 series coupe at the back, but like the M/Sports front end, pity you can't buy that combination. Regarding looks, in the fresh the car looks a lot better than in print, but from some angles it looks un-wheeled especially the angle posted by Cale24.

I really like the new 3-series coupe as opposed to the sedan which looks like sh!te! Especially the rear on the coupe is pretty IMO. The again - opinions are like a$$holes - everyone's got one. :D

That white one IS the M3. Look carefully at the bumper design. The creases around the lights for example...on the sport bumper there is a crease line running down from the light. Also, the white mule does not have any fogs and the recess for the air intakes are deeper and wider beneath the no. plate. The design will closely follow the lines of the M5 and M6 - quite understated-ish.

I'm not a fan of that Sport kit at all. Way too fussy IMO. Back and front.

Couldn't agree with you boys more though..E30 M3 all the way! Oh, if only i could find an unmolested EVO II version....

Does the E46 have a bonnet bulge? I wonder if the bulge on the E90 contains any vents for cooling?

The E46 M3 had a bonnet bulge yes - and the white one is also a CSL from the looks of the front bumper (unless it was retrofitted).

Mori,

Sorry for the confusion...I was refering to the White E90 test mule (on the first page of this thread), not the E46 CSL with the black BBS rims.
