When speaking with the folks who chipped my car, they have put in accelerator stops on other audis. They ran audi's on a dyno and found if the peddle is to the floor it has a loss of 20-30 hp. I have noticed that half to three quarters peddle feels the strongest and wondered why I ran such slow quarter mile times. Anyone else have experience with this.

The same has been debated extensively about the B5 S4. Not sure there was ever any concrete data confirming it though. I remember a fellow on AudiWorld (AW) with handle 'S4MadMan' that went to the local hardware store, and used a rubber knob attached to the side of the accelerator pedal that hits the wall, and use it to make it stop sooner. Kind of like a heel extension.
It is know as the 3/4 throttle mod.

Here are some older posts I found:
1. Any proof to this 3/4 throttle mod? (http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1553323.phtml)
2. Dyno's output with and without 3/4 throttle. (http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/495764.phtml)
3. Info with picture of the 3/4 throttle mod. (http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/993185.phtml)

Feel free to do a search on AW on 3/4 throttle mod. I have not tested this on the RS6. Maybe I should!!!!!

Accelerator stops? This is the first I've heard of them.

I get best results from jamming accelerator into the floor. Had a B5 S4 before the RS6; same was true. Sorry but this is the first time I've heard of the phenomenon you describe.

Jax,
I'm very surprised that you as a B5 S4 owner never heard of the 3/4 throttle mod!!! I've known this for a long time, as I had a 2000 B5 S4 before the RS6 as well. Maybe you did not frequent the AW forums when the B5 S4 was out at first.

I tried it on my S4 and never really felt it was conclusive, so I went back to normal mode. Honestly, I think our twin-turbo cars are just a bit moody. Most days are good, and some days, well, they just are what they are.

Personally, I think folks just get a bit used to the power, Sometimes I leave the RS6 in the garage for a week, and once I take her out, I'm smiling from ear to ear.

the car has boost pressure control. it is quite possible that, in the right combination of ambient temp, altitude and arcane things like gas quality that the boost is dialled back on full application of the accelerator. remember that these cars have an electronic accelerator. as far as the motronic is concerned, you use the accelerator to "request torque" from the engine. the motronic decides how much you actually get...

the knock sensors (3), exhaust temperature control, and boost pressure sensors are the key determinants of power output. all designed to ensure the engine doesn't make like a grenade...
