Drove an S65 yesterday...

...and man does that thing get up and go!

I think I made the salesguy soil his pants when I gunned it down Crenshaw but I couldn't resist. The car has a horrible lag when you floor it, feels like the engine is going to stop. But then 604 ponies kick in and it just launches.

But that launch is almost too smooth. Now I know why the RS6 beat out the E55 in driving magz. The car is just too refined for a beast. I guess if you're a grandpa or grandma but for an enthusiast.....you need to feel the road.

Did I mention the seats have massagers and roll out to support you on curves. Pretty sweet.

I drove the boss' wife's CL65 AMG recently, and came away with the same impression: HUGE power, too much throttle lag, in the end not very exciting, despite the rapid rate of acceleration.

I'd never want one.

BTW - this car is an '05.

Very true what you guys said, I have been there done that with the 65 motors from AMG/Benz.
That is why i bought the S8, TOTALLY different driving experience.
