Not that it really matters too much, but I plan to put a lot of miles on the car this next week so was wondering what you guys are seeing for average MPG under normal to slightly spirited driving..

Thanks,

Dan

Normal to "slightly spirited" will eeeeeeeeeeeeeaaasily see 18+...

It is only when you're on the autobahn with George that things go south from there...:hihi: :incar:

I'm not the owner, but don't expect anything under 20l/100km...

Ben, am I wright...?

I routinely see all around MPG at about 19.7 or so....actually better than my wifes Tribeca (Subaru thingie)....

For long highway rides at 65 mph in drive, no passing......I get about 23

Easy 20-21 to ( going up hill) and 23-24 coming back ( down) - of course always depends on how much passing I do

yeah, I get about 26-28 mpg, when idling :hihi: ... otherwise about 11-16 mpg depending on where I drive. Long term average 14.3 mpg.

With chip the light foot drive is between 22-24 mpg, now who'd drive like that? :wo:

Cumulative economy since day 1 = 15 L / 100 km, converting to just below 16 US mpg.

you need to define the terms! you are probably talking usa gallons, many would be thinking imperial gallons. so your graph is skewed on the low side...

me, i get 16.3l/100kms long term average, which works out at a tick over 17.4 miles per imperial gallon, or 14.5 miles per usa gallon...

ever so slightly worse than i used to get im my s8. and i don't mind a bit :-)

for a long trip avg about 75-80 mph I've been seeing 21 mpg. And about 390 miles per tank....

my long term average is 17.5 liter/100 km, that's about 13.4 mpg (US)

on a good dry day (Sunday morning for example) on A3 the fuel tank is good for approx. one hour - 1:15 ..... :D

Currently at 10.7mpg ! Central London driving with average speed of around 12mph. My wife's 4.2 a6 avant is averaging circa 17-19mpg for London driving.

Is there anyway I can get better economy in town and unleash the beast on the open road?

Around town get 18-20 litres/ 100kms.

out in the country on cruise control at 115 km/h (70 mph) get 10 litres/100kms.

lots of empty wide open spaces in western australia

stock rs6 2003 with 45,000 kms running on pump 98 octane :rs6kiss:

Andy, see other comments above as sub 20l/100km is easy.

Ah forgot, city driving is horrible when it comes to fuel economy! You're doing good to get 10-12 US miles per gallon.

Just got back from a So Cal Audi Drive in San Diego. We were taking it easy (I had a really good reason) and were averaging just over 18mpg with the boys on all back roads. The drive back netted @21mpg (75-80mph)...

Also, my lifetime average is closer to 17mpg...

Reduce your stops by choosing routes where traffic flows more smoothly.

It's not low speeds at a steady driving pace that sucks up fuel; it's getting the beast going after it stops.

My computer often shows high 20s and even 30 mpg when cruising around 40, for example. But I average much lower than that, around 16 in city driving -- because of the stops.

Cruise control at 83-84 mph get 19+. Havent' done highway with the chip, should be better.

12L /100km is lowest possible i guess. But you have to drive really slow (120km/h and less) to get that. I usually have 25L+ (thanks to autobahn :).

How large is the RS6 fuel tank in litres or gallons?

I hope to get an RS6 soon and I just want to be sure of how much thiner my credit card is likely to get with each trip to the petrol station. :)

Cheers

Highest I've averaged on a complete fuel tank is 34,2 l/100km

Lowest somewhere like 12 l/100km

I recommend you don't bother measuring it. Seriously! Because as soon as you do, you'll start economizing. And what a waste of a 450hp car that would be!

When I drive "normally" I get about 14-16mpg (imp). My wife however gets 22+mpg around town.
On a recent 300mile journey she got 26mpg on the motorway. She was obviously driving like a girl!!

Its good to get an idea of the average mpg. At the minute i get about 20-24 from my S60R. But i think the decrease in mpg by moving to an RS6 is well worth the extra 150bhp ;-)

The first thing you gotta do is assassinate ken livingstone, thats going to save you lots of money!:applause:
The second thing you can do is get your wife to push you around London
The third thing you can do is move!

Take it from me- best thing I ever did!:thumb: :D

For those of you guys out there who dont know of him, Ken Livingstone is the (Night)mayor of London. He charges you £10.00 a day to drive your car into the central section- whether you work live or play there. Then he charges you £5.00 per hour to park on a meter, and now he has introduced a "low emission zone" if you drive a medium size van it costs £100.00 per day to enter inside the M25 (the main London orbital motorway) and £200.00 for big lorrys. Porsche are sueing him as in 2010 all there vehicles will fall into the £100 per day bracket, and anyone with an S4, RS4, S6, RS6 etc will be charged £200.oo per day.:vgrumpy:

AND don't get me started on the M4 bus lane.....................

Sorry, bit off topic there:doh:

E46 M3 if anyone intrested, city driving 16L/100km, motorway with passes up to 200 (or more) between 8.5 - 10 L/100km

here we go the average per tank:

worse : 7.15 mpg (US) = 32.92 liter/100 km

best: 19.10 mpg (US) = 12.31 liter/100 km
(this was in Austria going from Spittal past Vienna on A10/A2 about 130 km trip average in bit of a traffic one weekend)

my long term (from day one) average is 13.65 mpg (US) = 17.92 liter /100 km. Would be much worse if I did more autobahn trips :jlol:

Fuel consumption actually improved with MTM chip (off autobahn only  )....
