i find it very interesting to see how "audi resistant" the LP640/murcilago is. Unlike it's little sister the Gallardo, most of the equipment on the car is not audi related. The interior doesn't have the dials, the nav, the switches etc... that can be found on the Gallardo, as well as on the A8... the engine, is the awsome V12, which is to be found nowhere else in the Audi/VW group... etc... Anyone know the why to this?? I know the murc was the last Lamborghini designed car, and all that stuff, and i don't necessarly want the LP640 to be the same as an A8 on the inside, but i am just wondering, since the gallardo is very audi related, the Bently CGT is very VW related and so on!

Anyway, wonderful car, wish i had the money to buy it, and then the money to run it, and the the spare money to have a life, and... Forget it, it's out of my league!!! :bye2:

Cheers

Charles DLF,

If I had the money to buy it, run it and spare cash for a life I would still choose the R8, .............. why, because I'm tight and the fact that these cars attract expensive women which are also high maintenance.:D

Charles, That V12 is Lambo's own and has been since the Miura. When it was a 6.2 V12 in the Murcie, most thought that this was the end of that particular base of engine...i.e it had reached its potential. The Lambo engineers obviously didn't think so and increased it to 6.5 litres and have produced an absolute peach of an engine!

VW have the W12 and i'm not quite sure on the figures but would guess that the W12 produces more torque...but to be honest VW can keep it! The 6.5 V12 just rocks and only a beast like the LP640 is deserving of it!

Yes the 6.5L v12 in the P640 is a peach, but I believe this time round it has reached the end of what can be done to it. So the question is, what next? Will there be a new in-house v12 or will they use the v10 and extend it's capacity and add turbos like the ones on the new 997turbo.

Or will there be the money to do anything now that Porsche are starting to take control?

Maybe that's why Audi has brought out the R8 is readiness for selling Lamborghini off to the highest bidder.

Your right Leadfoot. Who know's what lies ahead for the VAG group. The next year or so is going to be very interesting.

I wonder if this rumour about Seat has any substance?

I hope that the next step will be to solve the only problem that slows down lamborghinis:
weight!!!!!
forget those huge engine what lambo needs most is to make there 2 ton monsters in to lighter cars I've just visited lamborghini's official web site
( here it is for those who want : http://www.lamborghini.com/ ) and few others
and a discoverd a defect that ruins all the cars but can be fixed:
traditionally lamborghini build parts of the cars (such as doors and roof and more) from specialty strengthen steel
And I don't understand why becuse today you can get light but much stronger materials such as: titanium or my personal favorite Carbon fiber (it's 7 times stronger than the strongest steel but lighter than aluminium) I mean if you change the doors and roof on the LP 640 in to carbon fiber you lose over 300KG it'll make the car way faster than it already is
But the car look seriously good now that the roof is gone.. :applause:

Edit: And BTW Leadfoot I'm sure that it is going to be the same story with the R8 after all it's not exactly a cheap car either now is it?
